Seems pretty pointless seeing as a majority of the stock used "one" has only recently been repainted.
That said, I'm not a big fan of the "one" livery or name and wouldn't be too upset to see it go. I would miss the c2c livery as it's nicely understated.

Re: A Stock, does it need replacing so soon?
The Underground feature in August's Modern Railways mentioned that 12 stations on the sub-surface lines were going to have platform lengthening work carried out, I wonder if that includes Paddington, Bayswater and Notting Hill Gate. The same feature lists the formation of the 2009 Tube Stock as DM-T...

Re: A Stock, does it need replacing so soon?
IIRC, the Met S-stock will be 8 car much like the A-stock is now and will have more suitable seating for the longer journeys involved (i.e. traverse). The S-stock for the H&C, Circle and District will be 7 car with longitudinal seating. Quite how they'll fit 7 cars into the platforms on the Edgware ...

Re: A Stock, does it need replacing so soon?
But with those new trains you can get easily confused while intending to get to Goldhawk Road you could be in Wembley. What your thoughts on the heritage A Stock route that if we get funding for it. :-? I think it's proposed that the S-Stock for the Metropolitan will have a different seating arrang...

Check out Informed Sources in this month's edition of Modern Railways. "Bionic Duckweed" is essentially another excuse being given by the government not to electrify.

Re: 'The Irish Mail' in the late 1980s
Yerkes, If you're going for pre DVT formations, I'd probably drop one of the TSOs for a BSO as well as having a BG on the end. My previous post was based on a photo of the fantastically titled "Y Ddraig Gymraig" circa 1990 which definitely had a DVT on the end. Whether the TDM worked when the 86 was...

Re: 'The Irish Mail' in the late 1980s
Most likely it would have been a 47.
As for the consist, I imagine it would be 6x Mk2 TSO, 1x Mk3 RFM or Mk1 RB, 3x Mk2 FO and Mk3 DVT.

Re: Converting Class 317 to Class 210
The vents on the carriage ends you describe also appear on the 455/7 & 455/8 and I think are connected with the pressure ventilation system. This is why on these classes that one end of the carriage has a lower ceiling.
