Re: FCC-New trains. Crossrail?

I went on one of the new Metro trains in Paris a couple of weeks ago, and they have a full car width gangway between the coaches, with no doors, and I was very impressed. It was a bit odd at first being able to see through six coaches, but it made a busy train seem a lot less congested.

Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light railway to close

I know this news has been about a while now, but thought it worth posting. The Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Steam railway in Kent looks set to close after being given notice to quit the land by 28th Jan 2009. The railway runs through the site of a large paper mill which has now closed, and the site...

Re: Bad bit of driving on a LM 150

This was a single 3 car unit. (150003) I can also absolutely assure everyone he wasn't looking anywhere near his own train. He was looking at an approx 120 degree angle straight across at the SVR and 45110 moving. Anyway, I'm sick of being second guessed. The simple fact is that this driver was NOT ...

Re: Bad bit of driving on a LM 150

For the record I have written a formal letter of complaint to London Midland, giving times, unit number and description of the driver as in my opinion this was a dangerous action. I have been using the railway regularly for in excess of 25 years and have never seen anything so unprofessional from a ...

Re: Bad bit of driving on a LM 150

Well, if you're happy to be piloted by a driver who places driving a train second in his list of priorities after sight seeing then that's fine.
Personally I like to feel that the person up front is concentrating on his job while having 200 peoples lives in his hands.

Maybe its just me........

Bad bit of driving on a LM 150

On Monday I went up to the Severn valley Railway. I decided to get the train up from Taunton to Kidderminster. No problems on the way up; got the 06:51 AXC service to Birmingham New Street, and then a London Midland 150 from Moor street to Kidderminster. The day at the SVR was great, but when I went...

Re: Severn Valley Railway - Bank Holiday Monday 25th August

I was there yesterday as well. Had a really good day. Got the 06:51 AXC from Taunton to Birmingham New St, then a London Midland 150 from Moor Street to Kidderminster. Arrived in time to get the 10:25 to Bridgnorth, headed by Bradley Manor as far as Bewdley where Bradley was detached and Erlestoke M...

34046 Braunton comes out to play on the WSR Steam Rally

34046 Braunton made its first public appearance today at the WSRA Steam & Vintage Vehicle Rally at the Norton Fitzwarren triangle site: The engine is currently undergoing testing, before being put into full service, hence the missing covers and panels. (As the driver said, if you put them all back o...

Glastonbury Festival Shuttles 26/06/08 evening

Thought I'd pop up towards Castle Cary this evening, which is the station for the Glastonbury Festival, with coach/ bus links from there up to Worthy Farm. FGW have been stopping almost all trains at Castle Cary (HST's on the London - Plymouth/ Exeter etc route, and 15x's on the Weymouth to Bristol ...

Re: East Somerset Railway 150 Quarry weekend. 08's,59's,60,66's

Orignial post edited with a video I took this morning of a double headed steam powered stone train, using American 5197 & 9F 92203 Black Prince. the engines were pulling 1000 tonnes, and yet they took off like they were running light engine. The sound and steam effects they gave off were stunning: h...

East Somerset Railway 150 Quarry weekend. 08's,59's,60,66's

Went to the East Somerset Railway 150 Quarry weekend today (21st June) Have to be honest and say I wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be a fantastic event, and if anyone can get there tomorrow I thoroughly recommend it. £15 total cost which includes a ten coach shuttle service top and taile...

WSR Mixed Traffic Gala 14/06/08

Some various pictures taken last Saturday at the West Somerset Railway DEPG Mixed traffic Gala. Really enjoyable day, despite some late running caused by a fault with D832 Onslaught which had to be rescued by D1661 North Star. Was there all day from the 08:30 DMU from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead til...
