Re: Class 142
The Pacer is a good train. I dont think I need to "grow out" of liking it, there's nothing wrong with them. All my mates like them, loads of other people like them and I like them aswell. Pacers shouldn't be taken the mick out of this much when they're just trains. And I disagree with anyone who do...

Re: Class 142
Went from Exeter to Barnstaple and return today (2.5 hours in a 142 Pacer :o ). The line itself is beautiful, through the Taw valley, travelling over the old "Southern" metal bridges over the river. The 142 itself wasn't too bad in most places; a little jerky and bouncy obviously, but there were thr...

The Somerset Explorer 14/02/09 (34067 Tangmere)
The Somerset Explorer on 14/02/09 ran from London Paddington through Reading, Berks & Hants line to Castle Cary, joing the Heat of Wessex route to Yeovil Pen Mill, then up the connecting line to Yeovil Junction for turning & servicing. It then returned on the West of England Main Line through Salisb...

Re: Dorset Coast V6
As a Yeovil resident this is great news for me. If it would be any use, Dave, I could draw up a trackplan of Yeovil Junction with approximate measurements. Let me know if you're interested. Cheers. Steve, many thanks for the offer - I have got quite a bit of detail for Yeovil Junction - my complete...

Re: Fratton question.
The FGW 158 may have been heading back towards Bristol or Westbury. They were running some 2 car sets on Cardiff - Portsmouth yesterday due to train failures on at least one of the three car sets, meaning that FGW were using a single 153 on the Westbury to Gloucester services, so may have been just ...

Re: What trains run on your local line?
SWT Class 159's going through Yeovil Junction, FGW 158's, 150's & 153's through Yeovil Pen Mill. Occasional FGW HST's on diversion through both stations.

Re: UK gated stations?
Well, I was at Cardiff Central on thursday night, about to go and get my rally GB tickets, and asked to go through the gates to use the toilet. The lady let me through, and on my return a man was covering the gates, said what I was doing and he said "no probs" and let me back out. Was very grateful ...

Re: Mk 3 Capacity
Actually legroom is far better than it used to be. I am 6 foot tall and have easily a clear six inches in front of my knees, and can stretch right out as there is no blockage underneath the seat in front. I personally find the seats more comfortable than the older type mk3 seats, but wish they weren...

Happened to be at Didcot Parkway, about to go into the railway centre when I heard it was coming in. Sun was a little bit too bright on one shot unfortunately. http://www.steve.dwest.dsl.pipex.com/did1.jpg http://www.steve.dwest.dsl.pipex.com/did2.jpg http://www.steve.dwest.dsl.pipex.com/did4.jpg ht...

West Somerset Railway Autumn Steam Gala
After two dry and warm days when I couldn't get there, due to work commitments, I went to the WSR Autumn Steam Gala on the two wet and cold days :) Was very good though, with plenty to see and do; the first public appearance of 34046 Braunton, along with 34007 Wadebridge, USA 5197 and plenty of othe...

No one knows yet. They haven't got the money to shift them, let alone store them or find a new site.
