I thought they only had 7, 9 coach Meridians? I think they need 14 sets to run a full weekday service. Most 222's run the Nottingham services and one is diagramed on the Sheffield run everyday.

HSTs to face Retirement

Apparently, according to the grapevine Transport Secretary Alistair Darling will announce the retirement of the 30-year-old fleet of HSTs and will oversee the hunt for their replacement. Anybody else scared? I have a fear they will look a lot like a Voyager. Personally I believe a 2 Power Cars + Tra...

Kings X is already at capacity, how are they going to cope with additional traffic from more commuters and added International passengers using Eurostar?

Should of done it like they do in the continent, if you carn't expand across build under, a bi-level station is the way forward. Ofcourse that idea doesn't take into account for anything like land stability, the tube or the fact that that platform ends so close to the tunnel. Still would be rather f...

Re: 117305 photos, why are they stealing the Scottie Dog of the side of that loco, shows a complete lack of respect for the loco owners (even if it is EWS) and the tour operator, as well as other enthusiasts who won't get a decent shot of it anymore. A great shame, I know the real Mc Coy is nice but...

The overcrowding issues is more one for our Lords and Masters at Marsham Street than for Virgin Trains Ltd. The problem is a simple one: VT Ltd are under management contract until the termination of franchise at which they cannot make any serious additional expenditure in increasing the lease cost ...

Most XC services through Sheffield towards the south are late! They keep saying they are on time ... until 5 minutes AFTER its meant to have left when they then say sorry this train is running 6 minutes late. Which is unlucky if your MML whos train whos London express is meant to basically follow t...

Interesting marketing technique, would be nice to see more passengers convert from air to the rails, I guess Virgin are confident they can perform to ensure these passengers will return.

Feel sorry for the person sat next to you who paid £150 though!

in my opinion, the GatEx services was always too ambitios. 8 or 9 coach units every 15mins, some InterCity services aint that regular! Me thinks a 30min service with the same units would have been better. I wonder what effect running it every 20minutes would have? Its one extra path an hour, ofcour...

Why Deltic?

I was just wondering why Deltics where named Deltics? Seems rather a strange name for a locomotive when every other engine has a logical name I.E class 50's = Hoovers etc

Found this on their website, obviously they've photoshopped an old tram but it gives you the general idea.
