Second year BSc student at Sheffield Hallam. We booked our first 3 stops accomodation before we left and then booked it as we went along, we knew we wanted to go from Rome to Amsterdam in an arch shape but didn't decide on any of the destinations till we were already on the move. There is an abundan...

All the best with the presentation, keep Virgins recent offer about exchanging boarding cards for 1st class tickets in mind and I've found a hand-out with interes...

TVs in the tube...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/5076430.stm I hate to be the cynic, but wont overhead projectors simply make the tube even hotter than it already is? As fancy as it sounds, when in Munich I saw an advert that travelled along the tunnel at the same pace as the train... dam that Germany innovation!

Which Airport/Airline did you fly out with and which city did you fly back from?? We didn't take any. MML to London St P and Eurostar to Paris Nord (£97 retrun). If you hold an interrail pass the most Eurostar will cost is £50 each way. We did this as we wanted to see France etc and return Via Am...

Hey James, Funny you should mention it here, I just got back from 3 1/2 weeks of Interrailing 2 days ago. We had an amazing time and I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone. We saw France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Holland, Slovenia and Hungry. Best bet is to nip into your local Thomas Cook ...

Are Our Cities Subitable For S-Bahn

Anyone whos travelled to a large city on continental Europe will of found that many of them have a S-Bahn style network. Usually electric trainsets which call at major stations as well as smaller ones in the centre and work their way out to various suburbs on a seperate network to regular trains. Th...

156's don't have AirCon, I don't think, hence all the hopper style windows. Although cascading the units to pacer work it would't really work effectively. Pacers with their large doors and 150's with large central doors are designed as suburban units capable of handling large crowds with short platf...

SG - Whoever damn well said that 170s will be used on Penzance services? Read it properly it was a question, WOULD you do it if it happened??? i wouldnt i try to avoid 170's full stop. Seriously this is your future, Branson's already refused to reapply for the franchise if it gets split up. Branson...

What would you do with...

41 2 and 3 car class 158 in need of a major overhaul inside and out when there already is an abundance of semi-fast long distance DMU's. Carn't be redeployed on suburban services inplace of the nearing retirement 150's as their doors are too small for high density commuter work. (I'm sure the people...

Its called saving money... I know trains look good in a uniform color and smart, but I'd rather it was clean. It does give off a rather shabby image mind.

First Paint

Considering the number of new franchises First group has won, and their eagerness to paint and then repaint their stock, how long till they bring out their own range to safe money? Yes I'm aware its actually Vinal.

We currently have a brand new West Coast with brand new trains to run on it, with ever increasing passenger numbers with a small amount of room for growth in frequency and length of trains. Although 2016 is a long way off the trains won't even be half way through their life cycle and where will they...
