Well seeing as it's for your own personal use and you're not copying it for other people to use, I don't see any reason why it should infringe some law or other. I would advise using an external hard drive to copy all the files (if you've got one).

Don't know about reduction in image quality, they still look as great as ever - some crazy long range shots there
