While I am in no way against any kind of landscaping tools and automatisms, I am a bit sceptical about their value. It surely will help the beginners and casual route creator to create better and more realistic routes, however, I believe these tools will also create stereotypical landscapes in the h...

The idea was not to post to this thread, but let steampsi update the head entry when new information becomes available. I personally would appreciate if you would create new threads for your discussions. Maybe the admin can cleanup this thread a bit and move all non-relevant postings to another thre...

Hi Andi, Bootcamp isn't an emulator, it is a dual boot loader. XP will run natively without an additional layer on the Apple machines. As long as there are video drivers that support the latest DirectX versions, any software should run. And since Apple uses PC video components for a longer time now,...

Re: Lighting FX

HDR is probably not very difficult to implement (many games nowadays have it)... Hmm, I think that you completely underestimate the complexity to create a decent, fast rendering engine incorporating all the nice features modern graphic cards provide. HDR for example seems to require to handle textu...

Rail Simulator is, according to Kuju, a complete new program with no code from the old Train Simulator. While it surely will have its own bugs, the degree of backward compatibility is a topic of its own, but I am quite sure that Kuju wouldn't copy a buggy behavior even if it would break compatibilit...

Hi bigvern, I don't know exactly what happened back then in the Auran forum. When I first read about this, it was the news that you withdrew your whole site. But I know that people can be even thankless for stuff that they get for free. Payware is different, of course it is the people's right to com...

@scefhwil: 1) They shall not write into this thread, but on their site! :D :D :D 2) Sometimes I am one of them, but not in the moment. Reviewing the press releases, the last real details were given on November 4th last year. There was another announcement on January 20th about some technical aspects...

I second this. We also haven't heard about the monthly newsletter for a long time, or did just nobody publish the contents of it?

Hi Samd22,

four routes are planned -- three British and one German. See the Unofficial FAQ thread in this forum/question B.1 for further details!

Kuju promised to be open in respect to their file formats and I simply assume that this includes the format of the mesh files also. Besides the train software (MSTS, Trainz) there are many examples that openness and the ability of the end user to extend the program increases its value a lot, and I h...

...I just wondered if it would be possible to speculate... Well, is it possible? Yes. Does it make sense? IMHO no. Anything that can be said for KRS at this point in time can be said for any other game in development: It likely will run reasonable on most machines and better on high end machines --...

If a company like Kuju exhibits on E3, then it surely won't present only one of their products, but their whole portfolio, of course.

Well, since Electronic Arts is on the E3, it is not impossible that the Rail Simulator can be seen there. I don't know what the audience of the E3 is -- it may depend on it whether it is worth to present such a game there or not.

Just thought I would ask, will MSTS stock be compatible with MSTS 2? Just like Trainz. Please read the FAQ thread in this forum: A.8 Is KRS backwards compatible with MSTS ? Kuju position: Rail Simulator is a completely new game; based on a new engine with entirely new railroad simulation code and a...
