With regards to the livery;

In Photoshop there's a Pen Tool which is ideal for this kind of work, you plot points at key parts of the shape and use bezier splines to shape the connections between. This makes light work of curvature.

This should help if you need further reading.

You could try reducing the mip bias to -2.0 on the grill material. It wouldn't eliminate the problem, but it would reduce the effect.
