Monitoring Resources
For those with W7 and 2 screens here is a neat use of Windows Resources Monitor (a free programme in W7) have it on your second screen and you can see all the files Railworks uses and any other programme that may be running. By doing this you get a pretty clear idea of what you discs / CPU are doing...

Somewhere on this forum, and I'm not sure where, is a link to the National Railway Museum where you can download a free edition of Railworks with the flying Scotsman, as its free give it a try and see how it runs on your pc. Ah found it whilst typing ! http://www.nrm.org.uk/scotsmangift

Re: How many of you drive without any overlays?
I hate using any of the overlays, the only exception is f5 when i'm steaming and only then around inclines to make sure I'm not using more steam than my fireman can produce. The main reason I changed all my cab views was to see the steam and speedo. Personally, I'm really not happy with any of them ...

Re: i5 2500k, 560ti. Bad Performance?
I'm intrigued by this thread my pc is yonks old and you have seen some of my videos (I hope) and I'm getting good frame rates even with Fraps knocking six bells out the PC. What we are suffering here from is a bendy piece of string, and "not very good" "poor" etc etc are not very scientific terms. A...

Re: i5 2500k, 560ti. Bad Performance?
David, forgive me if you already know this. I see your using W7, I'm not sure if this applies to any other operating system but if you right click on the Computer icon on your desktop, click on manage, click on performance, and run open Resources Manager. (you can close the previous screen) You shou...

Re: OOH ER
Thanks for all the advice. With the help of a really nice man at Microsoft (see, they do exist) I recovered my PC . BUT decided to un-raid it and use the two spare drives as back up to the main two drives. Reason for this is that Raid 0 (strip) really makes no difference to speed and Raid 1 Mirror i...

Re: OOH ER
No its on my E: drive a second internal drive. But it IS on an external drive as well (as backup) Anyway I decided to re-configure the E: which is currently raid 0 Stripe and go over to Raid 1 Mirror as I can see any difference in speeds which was my origninal reason, and its much safer. So I'll sta...

Re: OOH ER
Thanks for the advice by transadelaide, I think I understand.
Your saying there is a steam folder on the C: drive as well as the Steam folder on the H: Drive (that also contains Railworks), and I need to create that.

Hi, My Raptor C: Drive exploded a few days back, yes exploded (very dramatic). So lost everything on my PC. Bought a new HD, re loaded windows 7 64bit. Luckly for me all my programmes including Steam / Railworks etc are on seperate E: drives. Question is, how do I load whatever is needed back onto C...
