Good morning Jon - in this case, it's not Royal Mail, I doubt Amazon use RM for guaranteed deliveries. If you offer a guaranteed delivery - which commands a premium charge - it can't be left to chance.
Cheers
Roger

Re: What's a guarantee worth?
Hi John - well, I don't doubt you and others have had no problems, but none of that explains my experience, a six day delay even though the item has apparently been dispatched!

Re: What's a guarantee worth?
Hi Stephen - yes, I too have generally found delivery good, and never paid extra for any form of guaranteed delivery time. But if you do sign up for these things, you expect them to honour it - as I say, I've found this 'guarantee' worthless Incidentally, I've often wondered what would happen if an ...

What's a guarantee worth?
A lifetime's experience has taught me that so-called guarantees should be taken with a pinch of salt - it's a matter of luck whether they're worth anything. For instance, we all know that a 'manufacturer's guarantee' on a product usually means no more than 'take the matter up with your dealer'. On S...

Re: Now, I'm not one to cast nasturtiums but . .
I'm not one to cast nasturtiums ... though you just did! It does seem a bit fishy, the chances of two leaks occurring simultaneously in two different places is unlikely but possible. It could happen by chance or whatever caused one joint to leak is affecting other joints - has to be something parti...

Re: Blu-ray classic movies
Paul, I have to agree totally with you, many of these Blu Ray classics are frankly no better than ordinary DVDs. Pre-WW2 films and many even before the 1970s were in a low definition format, so I really don't see what you get by moving to a Blu Ray version. You've only got to look at, say, a B&W 193...

Re: Credit/debit card fraud
It is worth all of us remembering that THE BANK is liable for any fraud - you are NOT (assuming that you are not perpetrating the fraud!) If ever you get caught by fraud, and you have not been unduly negligent (eg lent your card out, etc) never admit any liability to your bank. This is the real reas...

Re: 60 Watt Bulb Set to Disappear
I've Been told that it might not quite be the end for the 60w tungsten bulb - there is talk of allowing the production and sale of 'rough service' bulbs (used in applications prone to vibration etc). Since nobody has come up with a low energy equivalent there is talk of allowing these to slip throug...

Re: Noticing the difference
It's something we're all going to have to get used to in the future - we're all going to be a lot poorer and it's not going to change any time soon. For years governments have been borrowing more and more money to buy us off with lots of things (some well intentioned, some debatable) but, just like ...

Re: HD TV
the hopefully final re-tuning Glad you're up and running, Tony, so no need to add to that part of the discussion However, I've got bad news for you - there's another retune due this year (in my area in November, the Channel 50 band - ITV4, Yesterday, Film4, etc - is changing) and then there's yet a...

Re: Fishing
I don't think so, Tony. I admit it's been 3 years since I last looked at this, but quotas are based on several things, and measurements are usually taken over the whole EU as a whole. (They do like to think of it as one United States of Europe after all!) In the case of Spain, their fishing fleet is...

Re: Is there a WW2 based railway route out there???
The Fatherland is a great fun route, especially if you get some of the heavy German rail artillery trucks on it, but it is largely non-descript, Something more familiar, the Bridge on the River Kwai, can be found at http://agedormidi-65.forumfemina.com along with a Japanese military train - and come...

Re: More Potential Freeview Hassles
the reception is more than satisfactory Yeah, but read the article I posted, Tony - you might have to go satellite or cable yet! Appalling when this is described as 'the only solution'. NOW would be a good time to find out, not in two years when lots of people will have bought Freeview TVs, boxes, ...

Re: Cassette player
Tony, Ive been going down the same route since my cassette deck packed up - look on ebay, there are loads, unsurprisingly, going quite cheaply. Of course, there's a risk buying 2nd hand, but in my experience brand new ones are not always set up correctly (head alignment particularly) and if all you ...
