Woodhead activities
Hi all, anyone come across this problem before? I came to install the Sunday Diversion activities for Woodhead v2 route which I have had running for a long while (and excellent it is too!) As is my now usual practice, I changed the stock to use items I already have installed, rather than proliferate...

Thanks for the clarification Rich. It has made me feel good 'cos I deleted my L-S route only a couple of days ago as I had come to much the same conclusion. BUT - can I just thank the author of L-S for many happy hours of use in the past year or more. Despite its demise in the light of Dorset, it wa...

Well, it looks like you could do with a bit more hard drive space! And defragging should certainly help BUT - a defragmented drive will only slow things up when MSTS loads stuff, and that is not continuously. If the trains are stuttering all the time, and I get the impression this did not used to ha...

when installing TrainStore, you need to direct it to where TrainSim is installed - check the TrainStore manual 'setting parameters'. Installation should invite you to choose where you want 'in store' folders to be. The TrainStore prog itself can be on the C drive (or anywhere) but Storage folders mu...

Hi Ian I suspect it's the 'basic' MSTS loading stuff that is being retained, like a lot os software - no doubt it could be tracked down but it would take someone cleverer than me! Anyway, using trainstore, it proves to be a blessing On the minimise button, I have argued long and hard with Microsoft ...

this may be nothing to do with it, but I recently traced similar problems down to the processor fan being clogged up (it sucks in all sorts of muck) If you have a fan monitor you might be able to get a clue from this, or if your fan speed is dynamic, you might hear it kick in big time (though it ten...

Hi Tony - you have my sympathy. I too have learnt that backups are not always as reliable as they should be. You might try one thing with the disk - inspect the LABEL side for scratches or damage (people don't always realise that this side is the most vulnerable - it has a silver coating which refle...

What do you mean 'crashes'? Is it that the screen seems to freeze? If so, the authors warn that will happen as it is loading a big route (I have the downloaded version but I presume the CD is the same). Is this the problem? If so just give it 3 or 4 minutes to load, or better still use Train Store O...

Otto, Barry - Woah! Can I quickly come between you as I do have sympathy with both points of view! Personally I do like to find out an answer without resorting to asking - in fact I find it the best way to learn. My experience is that virtually everything I've wanted to know is on this site somewher...

Hi Steve For further info (if not consolation!) Ive just been looking at the TS manual - it makes the very point that uninstalling should be done via TS itself. But I seem to recall I once had a similar problem to yours and I somehow resolved it, so it can't be too far away. Good luck tonight! Roger

Hi Steve I don't know to be honest but I doubt it - Train Store is a separate program and if that is the cause of your problem, it is unlikely that further fiddling with TrainSim itself will remedy matters. before going to those lengths (mainly hassle, really) best to try and get Train Store working...

Hi Steve Evidently using the add/remove didn't completely remove TrainStore. The TS help files (which you can't access!) emphasise the need to uninstall completely if using a different Storage folder. But it's looking for a folder C:\Train Store. try creating that folder manually then installing Tra...

Hi tr1ckst3r I'm certainly not clever enough to diagnose the problem but all my experience is that computers are funny things - the slightest difference might have made the difference. I have one (non-train) application which only installs correctly if I copy and paste two files into a folder - drag...

Hi 24Feb! That shouldn't be - Wordpad should show the .eng file and if you open up the .cvf file it should show as text. Does the .eng file show up in the train folder in windows explorer? (eg are you using Train Store?) I take it you are selecting the 'all documents' option when using Wordpad (sorr...
