Hi Mike -definitely my last message for a week! re liveries - you might want to check out ebay items 330149351739 and 110152252953 as well (you don't need the latter if you win the first - the first item is a compendium of all the railway companies+BR). It's not that I mind emailing you copies of pa...

Thanks, Darwin, another useful contribution. I must track down Carter's book sometime. Since the discussion is getting serious, there are some other points about liveries, or any colour for that matter: - any colour depends on the exact mix at the time of course. That's why a resprayed part on even ...

Hi Mike - I'll certainly scan everything once I get back from Italy. That's a promise! I'll be in touch week after next Meanwhile, look for "Bulleid Coaches in 4mm scale" published by Ian Allen. It's got line drawings of the 4-subs (both original and later Bulleid flush cab), Tavern stock, Bournemou...

Oh, incidentally Mike, I do have full scale drawings of the 4-subs, in their various forms, with details of compartment variations. We can sort out how I get them to you week after next if that's OK. Not that I can forget the interiors - the string-bag luggage racks, the naked light bulbs, and the r...

Just seen your addendum, Mike. What you say makes sense, and ties the term 'sunshine livery' to the Bulleid years. Maunell's coaching stock was lettered in gilt or gold shaded black I've just noticed an interesting para from Haresnape which might be relevant to you: "The livery adopted by Maunsell f...

Hi Mike - yes, it's fun tracking down liveries, and also down-right frustrating! Your last query is easy to answer, yes it was the Bulleid malachite green. This was adopted for all stock until nationalisation, when British Railways eventually darkened it a little for EMUs (though I remember units st...

Hi Mike, thanks for the info. I agree with everything you say about the livery changes - except the term 'sunshine'! Referring to Haresnape's series on liveries, for instance, he talks about the Bulleid years as being the time of the sunshine lettering, from 1941 (p33) Haresnape also refers to the e...

Hi Mike - glad you welcome our appreciation. Even so, we're the ones who are grateful to you!! Love the ideas you have in the pipeline - makes the mouth water. A quick glance at the reference books seems to suggest that the 3-SUBs were liveried in the early SR green with simple chrome orange lining,...

6 PULs etc

The 5 BELs have long been one of my favourite route trains (on SR of course!) Then we were blessed with Mike's 4-CORs recently, and I didn't think it could get any better. But now we have the wonderful 6-PULs. Just a BIG thank-you to Mike Traves for his excellent models, delightful nostalgia for som...

Just read all this! OK, maybe I shouldn't have said 'file address', maybe I should have said 'path' or something. At 7.30 this morning, I was merely trying to answer Steve's question. The point I was trying to get across is that 'moving' any file from one folder to another on the same drive does not...

Hi Steve NO is the simple answer! You can keep the actual TrainStore program on a different drive, but the 'storage' area itself has to be on the same drive as MSTS. There's no way around it I'm afraid. Train Store doesn't actually move anything (just alters the file addresses) If it were on a diffe...

I want to endorse this - I've always found disks arrive very quickly, often the next day. This is an aspect of the service that sometimes gets too little credit.

So, my thanks also to Atomic. If only all organisations were this efficient!

One other factor which 'electric' hinted at - a fast hard drive will reduce the stuttering when MSTS has to load new stuff. Ideally go for a fast SATA drive (which means the motherboard has to support it).

Hi Jetgriff - thanks for response. Yes, I simply replaced units within the defined consist rather than deleting as you suggest. I have done this many times without problem, and the consists which I remade for the Woodhead activities ran OK in explore mode. Or it could have been that I simply edited ...
