Did you get a taxi all the way home, and they made you pay? :o I would sue. As far as I am aware, if a passenger takes it upon their own initiative to jump into a taxi while the TOC is making other arrangements, then the passenger is liable to the fare. If a TOC says "pay for your own taxi home" th...

Not down this way. Its £20 or twice the price of a Std Day Single, whichever is greater. But the twice the price only counts between the station they admit getting on, and the next station call. 99.9% of the time with mainline trains its either Woking, Guildford or Farnborough..... so £20 applies....

In my opinion, £20 is not enough. At SWT, a return from.... say Guildford to London (SDR) is £17 A commuter hides away 5 days a week, maybe gets caught once, pays maybe £28 (including a Woking to London single)as a fine £28 or 5*£17 ? Which offers better value? Lets make it a minimum of £50. A...

I think the Arriva Crews that take on the Cardiff - Portsmouth diagrams are not as chirpy as they used to be, but I think thats because they realise that they are losing the cover contract soon.

Was that why some Virgin XC services terminated at Leamington, or was that just a one off. While I was waiting for my train yesterday I heard an interesting announcement at New Street: "Platform <x> for the <time> Virgin Trains service to Bournemouth calling at Birmingham International, Coventry an...

South Western Franchise

Not being one to put a cat amongst the pigeons, but I overheard a little rumour from a guard in the depot this morning. They were at Brighton, doing a SWT Brighton to Reading service last week, when the Brighton PIS made a small blooper: "The train standing at platform 1 is the **.** First South Wes...

Quite a bit of freight runs through Basingstoke, mainly from coming from the Southampton direction and heading up the reading line. With the upcoming signalling works at Basingstoke however, there appears to be a bit more night time ballast and rail movements from Eastleigh (?) to Basingstoke and to...
