That's a fairly silly spec TBH. A 6600/6800 will BATTER a 7200, likewise a 7800 will embarass an 8200. The first number only denotes the GPU generation, it's the last 3 digits that give the indication of relative power. Please bear in mind before rushing out to buy "bargin" 7200's and suddenly findi...

That whole (and wholly accurate from my experiences in the audio/music industry) sorry affair could be described in one word. "Managers" Manager:someone who despite having no knowlege of his proposed field, by virtue of a qualification in "management", is put in charge of a lot of people with extens...

Right, I've had a look at Act analyser, and my 10 euros is fizzing it's way through the ether to the author as we speak ;)

Also, found some more acts using the Dale Stewart stuff at least.

Might be Ron ;) Although I'd still appreciate some suggestions on acts to download that would already use that stock. (the default route and acts on the LMS CD are a bit of a hack[1], or I'm doing something really wrong with them, cos I cannae finish any of them...SUCH lovely stock but) [1] of cours...

If that was a Maxtor HD, you may have been able to save it. Apparently it's *always* the drive control card that fails on them, we've had two do it in our Linux fileserver, "Guzunda" (cos she guzunda the table), the fact that she only gets rebooted when the power fails may have summat to do with tha...

How big is yours then?

Sorry for the Leslie Philips school of thread title. I'm a terrific horder of game addons, be they freeware or payware (most of my racing games have damned near every world circuit and half a dozen race series available), but nothing has chomped my hard drive up like MSTS. I have now hit 34GB!!!!! B...

Courses for Horses

My lack of MSTS black belt status, coupled with my lack of knowlege of railways has left me feeling daft....... Can anyone recommend some good acts (for the usual suspects route-wise) that make use of The LMS CD stock as well as the Dale Stewart stock? I already found the Shenfield-Southminster one ...

I got stuck there too, just where the yard closes back down into double track, at the signal protecting the junction to said double track. I could hit the station with a decent stone throw. Sat for at least 15 mins, no joy, backed up and rolled forward like a loco dad-to-be waiting on the clickety c...

Partition magic can resize partitions on the fly if the drive is not a fragmented mess. Other tools can too, I just know PM8 personally. There's definitely something up with your install or methodology. I, in my days of being a newbie's newbie, managed to dement my MSTS several times even with train...

My copy of the tribute arrived the other day. For someone who knew nothing of him, it stands as an amazing testament, the regard in which people held him can be seen in the love and work that has gone into the pack which bears his name.

give it 100 years, and you'll get to sit up front on mainline expresses at 400mph and all ;)

Looking forward to having a crack at the DLR, last time I was in London I almost took a trip there for the sheer hell of it, but was too busy getting lost near Liverpool street lookin for a shop

A DVDROM costs about 15 quid. If you are to wary to fit one, an external one is about 30.

a Good way to make a great video......

Connect your videocard's 2nd output (SVHS/DVI/HDMI/Whatever) to a VCR/DVR (along with a line from your sound output obviously). Record it there. Then just lift it back with a TV capture card.

Of course HAVING a TV card is sort of required.

Looping sound is not always a sound problem. Anything that causes the PCI buss to lock up will leave the soundcard with nothing to play except the contents of it's buffers. If you think the average soundcard is bad with it's "da da da da da da" "fatboy slim mode". A pro-audio card with TINY buffers ...

tx is engineering notation for "transmit". More people here would parse that as such rather than as "thanks".
