Re: Accommodation Reviews

i wonder whether it would be appropriate to post a review of overnight accommodation on the forum? Might'nt we be in danger of infringing forum guidelines about defamation if we write an accurate but none-too-enthusiastic review? In any case, there's always TripAdvisor ( http://www.tripadvisor.co.u...

Re: Where will they draw the line . . . ?

Hearing the arguments for about an hour, US District Judge Jeffrey Miller raised concerns over whether animals could be represented as plaintiffs in a lawsuit. I don't see why animals shouldn't be the plaintiffs for a change. They've been the defendants in court in criminal actions in the past - pi...

Don't do it, Doug - it's never worth it. If you know exactly where it is, why so shy about revealing the answer?

Is it Berry Pomeroy castle?

Re: Landmark Guess the Location (4)

Saint Julmund's... ...or Saint Alkian's? - two church towers for the price of one, from the Lion Hotel Upper Yard ...or even Saint Alkmund's in line, and behind, Saint Julian's! You swine, sir - quoting my own Panoramio photo title like that! :D Which, of course, means that you're correct. For ever...

Re: Landmark Guess the Location (4)

Doug, You're correct that the photo's taken in Shropshire (and in the diocese of Lichfield) but it's not in the city of Lichfield, which is actually in Staffordshire. As an aid to narrowing it down further, I'll remind everyone that not all of Shropshire is in Lichfield diocese - half of it's in the...

Re: Landmark Guess the Location (4)

Not Oxford - that's too far south.

There is a pretty hefty clue on the Flickr page.

Re: Landmark Guess the Location (4)

OK. This is a relatively easy one, I hope, to get things going again. Unfortunately, I'm no longer a premium member, so I can't use the Atomic photo albums. I've put the picture on flickr. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7171/6778703401_a33626c3c7_t.jpg The larger version is here: http://www.flickr.co...

If that's OK with everyone, I'll try to find something suitable.

In default of Martin posting a picture, is this thread now deceased?

Re: Crossing Barriers

Surely, the problem is not train speeds, but the length of sections caused by the closure of intermediate signal boxes? When a train enters a section that includes a level crossing, the signals cannot be cleared until the barriers are closed so, if the section is lengthy, then the barriers will be c...

Re: Our GLORIOUS UK Weather

It's been nissing down since about 8.30 this morning here in Shropshire - a sad disappointment to all those thousands of people who've forked out £25 each for the Cosford Air Show. The Red Arrows used to carry an old RAC sign about with them that said, "If wet, in village hall"; but I'm not sure the...

Re: Dancing around the Maypole?

We danced around a maypole - in "scratch" groups, if you like, as in "who fancies a go?" - at our village street party on Friday. I have to say I was reluctant to make an exhibition of myself at first, but it turned out to be great fun. The fact that the dancers are arranged male-female-male-female ...

Why can't I read German? Or French? Or Italian?

I've just been trying to install a Br65 2-8-4T which I've downloaded from http://www.the-train.de . It needs (as do many UK locomotives) separate cab and sound downloads to make it work happily (or, work at all). I have, therefore, been trying to make head (or, indeed, tail) of the lieBmich file. I ...
