Oh dear, diagonals again...

Sorry, Paul, I have to report the following: I've got this enormous piece of scenery (it's a street that the railway runs down) drawn with our latest and greatest tool. The relevant part of it looks like this in SketchUp: [album 131809 Test.jpg thumblink] However, in MSTS, it appears thus: [album 13...

Re: A bizarre bug with sketchup scenery models

It seems that parts vanish when a train shines lights on sketchup scenery items! Let me know if you get the same effect with your models... Ahem? [album 131809 DisappearingTexture.jpg thumblink] http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?t=57115 Sorry the first report came from one who is only just...

I'm not sure that the textures are inverted - one isn't for sure - but another one which had the name isn't in the right place. There is an algorithm in SketchUp - well, I assume it's an algorithm, rather than a pseudo-random number generator - that decides whether a face is "inside" or "outside". ...

there are two ways to achieve the 45degrees incline with MSTS... ...The next noticeable problem is of course the terrain; the obvious solution to this is building your own in a 3d program and adding it under the track section in RE. Again editing the world file will ensure perfect alignment. Thank ...

Llyn Cellyn just outside Bala, Dale Williams Just one "L", but yes, it is the replacement for the Bryn Celyn methodist chapel that was drowned when the valley was flooded. Just behind the moss-covered wall on the right is a small graveyard where the bodies from the original site were re-intrerred, ...

I was looking forward to trying this, but when I had some time to download it, I got: This file has expired. Is there any chance of it being uploaded again? As an ex-software tester who is now more than familiar with MSTS routes, I'd be happy to give it a go and report back [privately] to you if I f...

I've been trying to do this as a scenery item, but having looked at the tutorial, my on-going problem is that I want the tracks to slope at more than the allowable MSTS gradient (some N Wales slate quarries had inclines at rather more than 45degrees) and I know that there's a way to do this, but I'v...

If a part-constructed route is essential, how did they create the first one in order to create the sim? ... I've always assumed Kuju had a proper editor....not the horrible thing RE we ended up with. Cheers Jon As I have personal experience of the horrible way that software development proceeds in ...

Er, no. The translation of "dorlan" to "kingfisher" is a clue.

I thought it was actually quite an easy one? The pitch of the gables says "Scotland", and I think that there's only one castle that presents this aspect. I also recall a television program by (I think) Prof Richard Holmes (he of the BBC "War Walks" series) about Caerlaverock, and a siege there. I th...

Also when you first load something up after a reboot it seems to take longer than if you have just come out of MSTS and gone back in That probably says something about the terms "MSTS" and "releasing allocated memory" - which is probably that the two should be used carefully if they occur in the sa...

John. it might be worth checking where the axes of each component are - you know, when you click once on a component to highlight it, then right-click and select "change axis"? Are the axes of the wheelsets where they should be in regard to the locomotive, but not actually centred between the wheel ...

I think you're talking about two different things. The track database is just that - a file (or, correctly, a pair of files) that hold all the information about the track that makes up the route. These files are in the root directory of your route (I had to stop to think about spelling there for a m...

some of us rather like our status as wheel runners  This sheds a new light on your "Location:" tag. Curate- In MidEastPlus I have changed the default terrain texture without any problems. I just renamed the one I wanted to terrain.ace, after changing the previous terrain.ace file name to some...
