Re: class 37 brakes
Andy There is no brake pipe in a Westcode installation, as it is a pure electro-pneumatic system. An electric wire performs the role of the brake pipe. A main reservoir air pipe provides air at constant pressure to keep each units brake reservoir constantly topped up. This is maintained at about 7ba...

*hurumph* "I didn't get a hurumph from the guy at the back there" - Hedley Lamarr, Blazing Saddles:-) I've mentioned elsewhere that I'm not sure the path manager is completely beyond help, but it is certainly very, very, very picky. To add to your excellent points above I can suggest the following ...

Re: The Massive Obvious BUG Thread
Here's something else to think about: A non-trivial proportion of the railway simulator market are also likely candidates for becoming drivers (or other staff) on real railways. I'm sure the real railways would be very thankful if they had fewer dangerous misconceptions to train out of their recrui...

Re: The Massive Obvious BUG Thread
Some good points there Andy. Top of my own wish list would be an extended F5 HUD display like that enabled by MSTSbin - giving information on braking and power delivery throughout the consist.

Re: The Massive Obvious BUG Thread
I consider any "wrong" behaviour by a computer program to be a "bug". Whether the problem stems from the design or implementation of the program (or even from the hardware it is being run on) is comparatively irrelevant, as far as us end-users are concerned. If this was open source, I'd probably fi...

Re: class 37 brakes
I suspect that the main problem there is with the brake controller, rather than the brakes themselves. Notice that the brake cylinder pressure rises to maximum with less than half of the brake handle's travel, even with a graduated-release brake, or even in vacuum-brake mode on the 37, or even(!) o...

Re: Is Railsimulator Dead?
Even the on line shop has gone, so if, like me, you haven't purchased items such the stock packs or the foliage pack your chance has gone. Don't think we've officially announced it yet, but the 158 and freight wagon packs are going to be added to the Just Trains range soon (plan is for them to be c...

Re: Disappointed
I'll add it to my list.. as I say, it should be pretty easy to do. Matt. That would be a major improvement Matt, and would add a big tick to the plus column of my considerations on whever to go for the RailWorks DVD. Unfortunately rs.com have been managing to put quite a few crosses in the minus co...

Re: Is Railsimulator Dead?
Congratulations rs.com, another stunning example of customer relations. It seems when they talked about "no longer supporting RailSimulator" they didn't just mean no more patches, they meant suddenly erasing it from history. Even the on line shop has gone, so if, like me, you haven't purchased items...

Re: The Massive Obvious BUG Thread
I have to accept the criticism that I've only covered DC traction motors, but I thought that was a sufficiently complex topic to warrant a post of it's own, especially since it covers no less than four of the locomotives supplied with RailWorks (the 37, 47, HST, and F7). As far as I'm concerned, th...

Re: Confirmed: update wipes asset updates
On the other hand the way Steam updates the default files can be a blessing, just a couple of nights ago I managed to delete Paddington station before I did a backup, so went I simply elected to have Steam verify the cache files,a lthough in the case I moved the entire route out just in case. Yes i...

Re: Stupid Yankee Doodle no speakum British
You said a mouthful there! Dunno what you guys call it, but here it's known as "bait and switch" Going in to a scary place there. I think this is known in the UK as part of the generic legalise concept of "invitation to treat". Advertising a product does not constitute an obligation to sell or buy,...

Re: Confirmed: update wipes asset updates
There still seems to be confusion about how Steam works. Apologies if my understanding is wrong, but this behaviour is not a "bug" to be fixed - it is how Steam is designed to operate. Steam maintains a "build standard" on the server. When an update or integrity check is performed any differences be...

Re: The Massive Obvious BUG Thread
i asked him how accurate a program like fsx is, he said there ok for a bit of fun,but not to be taken too seriously, after all why would companys pay millions of pounds for a flight simulator,if you could nip to pc world and buy a dell inspiron and a copy of fsx for a few hundred pounds,so as i said...
