alisterbetts: Very true! Nothing could catch a Deltic - well not until the Flying Banana appeared (Class 43). Mallard would have given a Deltic a run for it's money though! Not sure if this is true, but ISTR reading somewhere that when it first appeared, the Deltic was the most powerful diesel...

Thanks all for the replies - and thanks for the EE & Sulzer nomenclature. That will sort out a few arguments I'm sure! Thinking about the 16(C)SVT, it's quite a testimony to the basic design of the engine considering that it started out in life as a 1600hp engine, but by the time it was used i...

My suggestion for a cabview would be something like a Class 20 running cab first as the outward appearance is somewhat similar i.e. 2 not so large squarish windows well spaced apart. Not sure about the cab layout as I never saw 10201/2/3 in any great detail. As for sounds, it would be have to be cla...

I'm up for a tenner as well! This is a brilliant idea - let's hope it comes to fruition.

I'll probably be ordering a couple of CDs from UKTS fairly soon, so I'll add a tenner to the cheque value and write a note to Matt advising him.

I just had to offer my sincere condolences when I read this: My sister died when she was 24 so I can truly sympathise with your tragic loss. Time WILL heal the awful grief you must be feeling right now, and the consolation is that she didn't suffer. She is at peace now, waiting for the resurrection ...

Here's one that I don't think has been suggested yet: B'ham Snow Hill to as far south as say Banbury, set in the 1940s/1950s. Plenty of branches & loops, some to other lines (e.g. LNWR, SMJR, North Warwicks line etc) numerous goods yards/sidings etc, so plenty of scope for activities. I spent most o...

OH God!! Not Again!! Im guessing the car zig-zagged around the barriers?? Any news on the car driver? If he made it out alive (unlikely) lets hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent. If it IS negligence by the driver of the car and not vandalism (which I stongly suspect WAS the cause), n...

Hi ALL [We need some common sense in this country instead of all this politically correct nonsense and free market pressure steering us forever further into the abyss of ridiculousness. Best Regards ALL That's part of the issue, but not all of it. With the advent of Thatcherism came the business ph...

To me that sounds a very reasonable assumption! I don't recall any large green areas around NS station, or in the not-so-near vicinity either! I used to live in Solihull when I was younger and I certainly don't recall any large green areas! I take it you're recreating the NEW New St station (i.e. th...
