Ah yes, the dreaded boot disc or batch file - trying to get 620kb of conventional memory free to run Tornado or TFX but still load all the resources the game needed to run. As you say, not missed though some of the software perhaps is! One word (well sort of) QEMM386!! I used to get 622K no problem!

I remember that very well, on an old 486 DX100. After upgrading to Win95 every fourth or so boot the PC would fall over with an error about the registry or similar on a light blue screen (Not the BSOD). The PC supplier tried everything, in the end it needed a new motherboard and CPU as well as the ...

As someone posted earlier in the thread, this smacks of either dodgy RAM (memory) or a software driver. Graphics card drivers are NOTORIOUS for causing weird crashes - for instance I'm using a Leadtek Winfast Ti4400 ViVo card and on my system I can only use the driver that came with the card as all ...

Well, I'll be extending my route as far as Gloucester. Was considering extending it to Birmingham New Street a fair while ago, but was put off by how complex the trackwork will be in the Birmingham area. :( To make things a bit more interesting, when you're more confident in route building you may ...

Right! I shall download it then! Thanks Bigvern!

What I like about MSTS is it's so "bendable" (well to a degree!!)

An idea for a route!

Not sure if this line has been done already, but here's a route suggestion for any route builder with time on their hands this Xmas & beyond: I was reading the current issue of RAIL magazine and they've done a rather nice feature on what's left of the Tyne Valley Lines, and I suddenly thought "this ...

How about GWR track diagrams by R A Cooke and there is a site that sells them http://www.lightmoor.co.uk/track_layouts.htm mind you these are only for the GWR (BR(W)) region Approximately what period do these diagrams cover? 1940s, 1960s etc? Just curious as I was thinking of buying some of them in...

Oh BTW, the reason Play.Com are so cheap is they dont charge you VAT on your purchase as they are based in Jersey. Tesco's have just started something similar for DVD's. People buying from them should remember that you have a liability to pay the VAT on your purchase. Although Customs and Excise do...

You will find these 4 aspect colour light signals on many but not all UK lines. Most of the West Coast Main Line (Thames Mersey etc) & East Coast Main Line employ the "rolling block" signalling principle where a sensor near the signal will turn it red as soon as the train passes the signal. When the...

If that was a commercially produced video you were watching, it's a pound to a penny that the original footage was silent & the studio dubbed the Rat sound onto the video for effect. GK As has been said before in this thread, you won't be far off the mark if you set the sounds for 10201/2 to class 5...

Jimmylad; FYI, the Class 56s had a Ruston Paxman 16RK3CT engine not an EE engine, and this has the same power rating as a Deltic! (Ok I admit there were TWO 18 cylinder Napier Deltic engines in a Deltic) Ruston Paxman ended up with the rights to EE engines, so it's from the same family. Technically...
