You can get US dollar and Euro denominated business accounts in the UK. Most business transactions come with a charge though, typically around 50p.
Three months ago the USD price would have looked fair. I'd agree the EUR price looks a bit of a rip off though.

Re: Welding crossovers
My plan is to mock up the missing crossover check rails, most likely with a procedural loft. That will hopefully address the cosmetic implications of crossovers failing to form a junction, but as you say there may be operational issues too. Well, I was hoping RSDL would be able to identify an issue...

Re: Price differentiation for non-UK citizens
Was the price differential so great before sterling nose-dived? (Which has been very rapid and very recent) Looks like someone needs to review their pricing levels. £1 used to buy approx $2. You only get approx $1.5 now. Since most pricing ends in a marketing .99 or .95 and FX rates fluctuate, it is...

Re: WHY?
Track rules - a good idea badly implemented. If they just provided track property defaults without the restrictions they would be useful. The problem with the default/all track rules is that they do not provide the correct 6' track spacing. It looks the same as the guage. Perhaps IOW railways have s...

Re: Welding crossovers
Adam, If you look at longbow's example, he has only managed to weld 1 out of 5 crossovers. It seems that welding crossovers is very hit and miss. I cannot come up with a general rule of what will work and what won't. Simply start up a test route, lay two tracks with the ox-padd default rule, and try...

Re: Welding crossovers
It depends on the track texture being used! Interesting. I can weld a straight/curved crossover at 250m radius using the Ox-Padd Wood Clean track, but not the Ox-Padd Conc Clean track. However, I can change the 250m Wood clean track layout to Conc clean track (doesn't re-render), delete one of track...

Welding crossovers
When I was working on my 'Lines out of Sheffield Victoria' route last year, shortly after RS release, I was having difficulties welding cross overs and slips. I worked out that a straight/curved track crossover needed to have a curved radius of over 250m. For a straight/curved single slip, the curve...

Re: Grid square size
I think in MSTS2 they are reducing the tile size from 8m to 4m. 8m is just too big to get realistic embankment/cutting widths.
I'm no 3d programming expert. Would it not be possible to provide a smaller grid size near to track, and larger ones further away from the track?

Re: No terrian in new route after checkin railsim box
Hi I have had a go at creating Google Earth decals, which is also quite easy using the tutorial and other information available, but I have decided that these include far too much detail to overlay so I am going to use the images as an external guide to what the countryside should look like and get...

Re: No terrian in new route after checkin railsim box
Absolutely right paulz6 Mark out GoogleEarth with pushpins at key points, export the data file and then use Tools to create a file. This will go into your own source RouteMarker file from which you can make a blueprint which ends up in your Assets\Zoid99\TheMidHantsRailway\RouteMarkers folder. If y...

Re: No terrian in new route after checkin railsim box
Hi I'm plainnin to do that. I also want to have a go at gettin images from google earth so i can get accurate trees, fields, roads etc Tom Be warned, that this approach can take a very long time and most people won't know if the placement of that tree in the distance is a few inches out of place. Y...

Re: No terrian in new route after checkin railsim box
EDIT - Yes the user will have to have the IOW route in order to use the new route but I suspect that by the time Tom finishes his route, the IOW route may be more easily available. The assets included with the IOW are also now basically essential in order to make the most use of scenery and other l...

Re: No terrian in new route after checkin railsim box
Now for the fun or marker files!
I'd strong recommend Mike Simpsons RS Tools for ease of use converting Google Earth Path's, and more importantly, the dcsv precision tool. You can pretty much lay track alignments bang on accurate, give or take a few inches, not feet!

Re: No terrian in new route after checkin railsim box
If you do alias the IOW textures, it will be limited to people with the IOW add-on pack. It wouldn't surprise me if most people have it, given the limited number of routes currently available, but this is likely to change in the future. Not everybody is going to be able to afford every add-on. This ...
