Re: MSTS (and other programs) quitting
This problem of MSTS crashing to the desktop or locking up or failing to respond to the keyboard after running for a period of time was also found to be related to the sound files. Several users, myself included, found that editing the figures in the soundcfg.dat file to replace the large memory all...

Re: Run round loops
Looking at the screenshot, the tracks are not quite on a straight line so I can see that you will struggle to connect them. It suggests that the wrong curve has been used at the left-hand point, so that the lines are not truly parallel. I would lift the track from the left hand point to the gap and ...

Re: Run round loops
In the track sections for UKFinescale you will find some _is_ (intermediate straight) and _ic_ (intermediate curve) sections. The _is_ go down as short as 0.234 metres. You will need to keep choosing sections until you manage to close the gap completely, or as near as possible. Make sure that you us...

Re: Using Google Maps to Create A Marker File
Most map providers are still sitting behind the fence A few weeks ago I learnt that OS maps often have deliberate errors in them, for example, a fence line will be shown in blue as though it were a ditch or watercourse. I was told that this is done to allow the OS to prove the origin of published m...

Re: Backing up downloaded content
The contents or unpacked result of each cdp file ends up in world\dispatcher\downloads\kuid {details}. As far as I have been able to tell, using the helper feature means that the cdp file itself is not stored after processing. So if you backup the entire contents of world\dispatcher you should be ab...

Using Sketchup materials in MSTS
For those of you who only need simple textures on your models and are happy with the Sketchup materials available, here is a relatively easy way to generate ACE files from Sketchup .SKM files. You will need WinZip or WinRAR to extract the image from the Sketchup file, Irfanview or similar to convert...

Re: Newbie problem with textures not loading
I'll refine my question, after having read back through all the previous posts. I understand that what I need to do is take the five materials I used to texture the model, and create ACE files of them that are square, and a multiple of a power of 2. However, I cannot find any image files in the mate...

Newbie problem with textures not loading
I've created my first Sketchup model, and textured it using some of the wood fence textures, some corrugated iron for the roof, and some white concrete. The model displays perfectly in Sketchup. I then exported it using the trains simulator plugin. But when I try to use it in the route editor, I get...

Re: Idiots guide to creating a mini route
I`ve followed the guide by AdamsRadial but it still won`t work & i`ve tried to open the route in route editor but it won`t do that either you won't be able to open a mini-route in the route editor, because it will only look in the main MSTS folder for routes. If you are saying that Route Editor won...

Re: Idiots guide to creating a mini route
This is how I created my miniroutes 1 Get the route installed and running in your main MSTS folder. 2. Create the Destination folder, say e:\Mini_Crich 3. Create a new folder Train Simulator under e:\Mini_Crich 4. Copy everything from the main MSTS folder to e:\Mini_Crich except for the ROUTES folde...

And, in addition to the problems of getting those texture files, anyone needing to use Dynatrax cannot get the executable, or get the profiles if they don't already have them. I think the issue here is not about copying or sharing the necessary files amongst ourselves, (which is a way forwards), but...

"The search system on the forums isnt really intuitive" I agree, I had a similar battle yesterday trying to look for a cure for bouncing coaches on tight curves, although part of my problem was that I had forgotten some of the quirks of the search system since I hadn't used it for a few months, and ...

One point here: do the missing textures get included in distributed routes such as Steyning and North Yorkshire? (I can't check myself because the laptop only has four routes on it and they're all standard MSTS track). If so, then there is already a form of allowed distribution, and that could be ex...

I run MSTS on my laptop with widescreen. In fullscreen mode it doesn't look right, so I run MSTS in a window, and it looks normal. Also, I can have a wordpad file open alongside with notes on the route or the activity. The way to get a windowd MSTS is 1) create a shortcut to train.exe by opening Win...
