Re: F7 Key
I suppose it would be lower in priority than some of the other things, such as the swaying grasses. I have to say I don't find it too much of a problem, it's not something that would spoil my enjoyment of the game once I know about it. If I had been trying to get to know the program without the bene...

Re: Consist Tilt
It is quite hard coupling up in simple and intermediate mode because of the delayed action of the train brake. As soon as you switch to expert mode you have access to the handbrake using the "/" key, which is a tap-once to toggle on or off, and works very quickly. In simple or intermediate mode, the...

Re: Rolling rolling err not rolling
Thanks for the pointer James, at least RSD have said they will have a look at it. I've managed to repeat the vanishing train act. It has nothing to do with control level. I let the train roll to a halt North of the tunnel past the signal box, and waited until it just started to roll back, then click...

Re: Praise for KRS
I agree with you, they have captured the feel of that part of the SouthWest very well indeed. I live near the area and know it quite well from the Pallydwr rally over several years. The buildings look right as well, and I'm impressed with the detail on the buildings such as the roof eaves. The flock...

Re: F7 Key
It also depends on camera number, if you go to cam 3 on your train and press F6 then F7, you should see all the labels, but go to cam 2 and you'll not see and stock numbers until you've panned round. With a high enough screen resolution there is a hint of the pointer at the right hand edge of the sc...

Re: Rolling rolling err not rolling
Well, it looks like you're right. I just ran the train I used in the banking experiments up through the tunnel and came to a halt opposite a 7f and some wagons I'd set up in the sidings for the shunting experiments. I left the black 5 in mid gear, regulator closed, and train brake at 4%, and clicked...

Re: Rolling rolling err not rolling
Strangely, I had the opposite experience. I had a 7f with wagons coming from Evercreech New down to Evercreech. I shut off the throttle and let it drift under the bridge into Evercreech Junction, then switched over to the other computer to browse the forums. When I looked back, the train was rolling...

Re: Shunting.
It looks to me as though without a train engine all fitted stock will be braked to a halt. When the dev tools arrive I shall try making unfitted copies of some of the wagons. At the moment I'm trying to find out how to fiddle the handbrake so that you can get it in intermediate controls. I've manage...

Re: Rail simulator readme all you need to know to run rs
It does make me wonder, though, whether we wouldn't be better splitting off a new forum which is for installation and setting up issues. I am coming across two distinct types of threads in this forum: How do I make it run {better} on my machine, and I like/don't like The simulator/The publishers/The...

Pmorgancym wrote In free roam if you jump out of a train it grinds to a halt, Not necessarily. I ran a train up from Evercreech Junction North towards Bath. It slowed considerably as I approached the twin tunnels, and as I came out of the other side I saw the 7f and some wagons I had left in the sid...

Re: Banking engine performance, is this a bug?
Yes, I did. I'm beginning to suspect that the engine with the driver gives the overall performance for the train, and the slave engine adds a certain amount of power using a proportion factor. So, with the driver in the 7f at the rear of the train using 75% regulator and 41% cutoff, the train has x ...

Re: Shunting.
I think the destination boards really belong in or around signal boxes, but it might become too fiddly having to go inside the actual box to find the boards. Possibly a pull-out menu would be better, showing available destinations form the current location and heading?

Banking engine performance, is this a bug?
I don't know if this is an issue, I'll see if there is a consensus (Ha!) amongst the steam experts rather than asking RS and possibly wasting their time. I have a train set up at Evercreech junction, facing north, consisting of a green 5mt, then 6 Mk1 coaches (3 brakes, 2 2nds. 1 1st). The rearmost ...

Andis wrote If pressing F6 makes them all disappear It doesn't, F6 only makes the green labels over the sidings and running lines come and go. The orange boards are always there. I would actually prefer to see them implemented on the map or F3 aid than in the simulation, since they do not belong in ...
