Re: Known Video Cards & Resolutions
JustinEss wrote I recommend downloading the newest drivers from ATI, the ones on the CD are old. I would be cautious that upgrade. I followed the link you gave, and obtained the drivers-only update for the card and OS from the site it linked to. After installing, I ended up with flickering vertical ...

Re: Banking engine performance, is this a bug?
I haven't got round to using the Dev tools yet, I upgraded the graphics card and am wandering around the S&D with the scenery slider set to max amazed at all the new detail everywhere. I suspect that all banking experiments are doomed by the physics issue of rolling stock freezing when the driver mo...

Re: Known Video Cards & Resolutions
ASUS (ATI) AX1650PRO AGP, 256Mb, running a flat-screen at 1280x1024, RS windowed at 1024x768 I upgraded from my old Nvidia Geoforce FX5700 last night, I got this new card from Amazon for £35. It had taken me a while to find an AGP card at a sensible price, because everyone is pushing PCI Express now...

Re: How RS can't simulate even basic train movements

It is the sort of thing I would li...

Re: How RS can't simulate even basic train movements
I reloaded TRS2004 onto my machine during the long wait for RS to arrive, and was just starting to get to grips with the driver commands, using an excellent route called UK Somewhere, and Paul Gausden's O1 engine and SECR stock. The Trainz sounds and steam were poor (in my opinion), but other aspect...

Re: Banking engine performance, is this a bug?
Sadly, it isn't possible to do that, because if the banking engine isn't coupled to the train, it is trying to push the dead weight of 6 coaches and another engine. If you switch to the train engine and start it moving, the banker stays stationary. Flip back to the banker and open the regulator, and...

Re: DevTools download problem
I've tried both Firefox and IE, I suspect it's a problem with too many users, not the browser. Before anyone starts ranting about how they're switching back to Trainz, I've found that Auran's download station is very variable in terms of access and speed, even for a 1st-class ticket. I'm intrigued t...

Re: Happy people discussion Only
Don't worry John, a little bit of prodding won't hurt anybody, and they might as well know that somebody wants to see it appear. I might even release a route of my own one day, but it won't be for MSTS. Not unless they work out how to get bogie stock round tight corners in a smooth controlled manner...

Thanks for the heads-up Mike, I hadn't realised they were up and running until I downloaded the PO&N today.
It's a different world over on those forums. You wouldn't think that they're still months away from their official release date.
Had to laugh at the 'incessantly moaning' post.

Map actions and locations in the free-roam scenario
Just idly playing with the 2D map, and I discovered that if you use the mouse wheel to zoom out so that you can see other stations on the map as well as your own, and then shift-click on one of these areas, it becomes the new centre of the map. Leave the map and then come back in, and you are still ...

Re: ref: Consist Tilt
I just had a try on a curve with the 7f and a 5-plank wagon. I stopped with the buffer on the inside of the curve just overlapping the wagon buffer, and a gap between the buffers on the outside of the curve and was able to couple up without problems. You don't need to get the buffers touching on bot...
