Re: Statement from RSDL
I too was excited after reading the statement from RSDL. It's sounding good and I'm wishing them the best of luck (literally, no sarcasm implied :D) with having things work out well in the long run. RSDL is aware of what is amiss with MK2 RS as well which is making me think they're on top of it and ...

Re: An Open Rail Simulator?
Note: I have not used an existing 3D engine I played around with a few,all were to limiting or to slow.Same thing with SDL the 3D part of these is chronically slow although the sound appears to be OK. Note 2: Distant terrain is a MUST.... Very difficult to do along with the rest of the scenery.. Fo...

Re: Group Route
I think the release-as-you-go approach will work too, since the RPK installer just seems to overwrite the existing files with whatever happens to be in the package. Have used this with some homebrew packs and so far so good.

Re: Openstreetmap with KRS?
One step at a time indeed :D Such a long list of features already that I want to add. But this one definitely seems important in terms of saving folks hard work with measuring out distances and such. On a related topic, I have also considered using terrain textures of specific colors to act as indic...

Re: The Spa Valley Railway
Geoff, that's looking superb! I really like seeing all the accurate route reproductions here. Feeling a little jealous too since we're so technologically behind in Bulgaria :( and there is no way for me to get the accurate plans for the routes I've been wanting to build.. but oh well. Anyway, great ...

Re: Rail-X Pics
Beautiful! And looking very realistic too!
Can't wait for the skies to become available, the default "blue and white" sky really drags the realism level down, but these new skies are looking great!

Re: Group Route
The only thing I haven't got my head around (yet) is how to release a route in stages, if you put the first part out then go back to work on extending the same project. Vern, this same exact thought crossed my mind too when I was thinking about releasing a section of a route and then later only rel...

Re: Amazing video of OpenBve features
WOW... Just WOW!!! Just had a go at openBVE along with the excellent (Electrified! :D) route linked in the post. This has got to be the most realistic train driving experience ever, at least on the computer. Kudos to all involved, it's simply amazing. Add to that the newer yet higher-quality scenery...

Re: Advice wanted on a sticking issue with rail sim
I wrote a bit on this in another thread but will try to elaborate a bit more here. The issue of stutter in RS arises for a variety of reasons, some related to current computer architectures and the nature of the sim itself, rather than deficiencies in the program itself. (I feel RSDL has been unfair...

Re: Rallying Call
As I said in a previous post, this is an amazing group of people. We really do appreciate the support. I don't hold any hope for this effort to get traction in Microsoft, however I want to thank you all for how tremendous you have been. I am hopeful I will have more to contribute to this forum othe...

Re: Rail Sim Performance Tweaking
Yes, I doubt many people who have Dual Xeon setups are going to be playing RS, way too much power. Got one of those but it's in a colocation facility.. otherwise been tempted several times :D I have windows vista ultimate 64 bit now and it does seem to be helping with the stutter quite a bit for th...

Re: Openstreetmap with KRS?
I think all the information is contained in the following folder: C:/Program Files/Rail Simulator/Content/Routes/<unique-route-id>/Networks/Road Tiles Yes, it is. I'll have to look at the format there but if it's similar to that of the track networks then it should be easy since I already have the ...

Re: MR Blackwell Branch
Ant,
that is looking like a stellar route in the works. I checked the pics and it starts out looking good in the beginning, then just gets better and better with each new batch of pictures.
This is definitely one I'll be looking out for whenever it's released.

Re: Silver Lining..
Its amazing that a company like microsoft who has billions and billions of pounds surely bill is sitting on a pile of cash or has he squandered it all? One of my first posts shortly after joining UKTS was one that praised Kuju for succeeding with the original MSTS and bashed MS for dropping the bal...

Re: Openstreetmap with KRS?
Whuzzat..?! This could be a feature for KRStool especially as I already generate quite a few terrain aspects. Would either of you gentlemen be willing to summarize what would be involved/needed for me? I can take a look and see if it's doable (most likely the answer is yes).
