Re: KRStool2 updates thread
What did you do to get RS running on Linux? How well does it perform in comparison to windows? On amd64 Linux with the latest Nvidia driver and Wine, it performs the same as under Vista. I actually was expecting much worse and was very pleasantly surprised to see it run perfectly. The whole install...

Re: Mk3 upgrade wishes
One more from me:
can we please keep the MSVC 7.1 runtime and not use the later VS 2005/2008 libraries? Asking because updating the runtime would cause RS to have a ton of problems under Wine which it doesn't at the moment.
Cheers,
jkxx

Re: KRStool2 updates thread
First of all, thank you all for the feedback! The error message above is exactly the kind of thing that really helps diagnose errors quickly :D I just switched over to running KRS on Linux (no Windows at all yay!) but the .NET stuff is still being worked out so will be a little while before I get kr...

Re: KRStool2 updates thread
Ross, I do recall the app was giving you trouble in the past. From what I've seen one of the things that can crash it is an unusual or corrupt routes.xml I've already fixed the scenery tile parser to handle a number of these so the routes.xml parser will likely be next. When it crashes try clicking ...

Re: Sky's the limit...
Marc,
those are some truly fine skies. I'd say not half bad is an understatement here
They do give the rest of the route a much more realistic feel too. Haha real skies and tilting trains, almost too much RS good news in one day.
Cheers,
jkxx

WOW.
The cemetery looks very eerie. Love the buildings too, they would fit right into most European routes.

Not a big fan of steam but I have to admit, these are some great engines! I guess even one electrified routes we can have the special tourist trains from time to time.

Yes!!
Great job there! This is something I've been eagerly awaiting for so long
and now you've made it possible in RS. Can hardly wait to trains utilizing this feature.

KRStool2 updates thread
Instead of making new threads for each new release, I'll just keep editing this one to keep things clean. UPDATE: Release 451 with Routes.XML bug fix [Feb 14] This release doesn't add any new features but is for people who get a crash on starting KRStool2. There is a known bug in the Package Manager...

Re: KRStool, now with texture scripts
Try running krstool with the krspath switch, provided you know where your Rail Sim is installed, like so:
krstool2 krspath="C:\Program Files\Rail Simulator" <- the real path to Rail Sim should go between the quotes. This usually gets it going when it won't read from the registry.

Re: RS ToolsDCSV precision Errors Need Help
Just from the error it looks like RS Tools is unable to access the file or alternatively write to the destination. If you have Vista, make sure you are running RS Tools as an administrator and that Rail Sim is not running at the same time you are working in RS Tools.
Good luck,

Re: Openstreetmap with KRS?
When you create road or track (or loft) data directly, instead of creating markers, you need to deal with the UTM conversion the way KRS does or your roads will not match the terrain nor the markers, at least not far from the route origin. I believe I found a good approximation of what KRS does, bu...

Re: Just Trains - Bristol T.M to Exeter S.D?
Would be fair to say that we could expect to see this route published on or before Q4 2009, or is that too optimistic? Does anybody know if any developers are planning to embark on a massive project for the West Coast Mainline? Short answer: yes (you only need browse the forums..) One thing I felt ...

Re: Amazing video of OpenBve features
Passing trains are very rudimentary and simple at the moment, i.e. they don't emit their own sounds, and they don't follow a track. The animated object format wasn't designed to enable passing trains, and the one I've shown simply travels in a straight line. It's a step up from BVE's entirely stati...

Re: New Track Joint Sounds
Woops, sorry  Yes, to get most of the sounds to work I had to edit certain default sound scripts. And even though the file being edited is supposed to be for the DB rolling stock, it affects other coaches as well. For those wanting to give it a try, you will need to back up your RailVehicles\W...
