Re: MSTS springs another surprise

Hi

The "Z" key needs to be pressed after an "Emergency" stop if I remember correctly. Switching locos probably had a similar effect.

Re: Activity Editor - New/Edit Service Crash

Hi

Not a bin problem but if there isn't a Services directory in the route's directory, that'll cause a crash. MSTS isn't smart enough to create the directories needed for activities.

Re: Weird Problem

185 or so files in your Train Simulator\Fonts directory? That or a GUI problem. That picture is GUI\SCREENS\activity.ace. But with that slanted line and the single "N" added, I suspect a fonts or drawing problem. I wonder if something is broken in DirectX. Perhaps a repair installation would be a go...

Re: Weird Problem

Hi,

Fresh MSTSbin install I think I'm reading.

Did you install the two appropriate .dll files from the language directory? Step 4 in the Readme file.

Re: MSTS Loco Choice Not in correct order

Hi

That list sorts by the loco name following the Engine and Wagon parameters (and file name) but displays the text following the Name parameter (if defined).

There's no easy to change the sort order.

Re: Loss of Intro titling

Hi You say "patched it". By this do you mean you installed MSTSbin? If so, you probably missed one important step, in the ReadMe.txt file, How to install, Step 4 which instructs you to install the two files for your language of choice ... English perhaps? By the way, uninstalling MSTS is not recomme...

Re: Sound/SMS Problem.

Hi

Cab (inside) sounds must be stereo, eng (outside) sounds must be mono.

Both should be sampled at 11,025 Hz, 16bit PCM.

The FrequencyCurve settings can be used to vary the playback sample rate from the default 11,025 Hz.

Re: Stuttering.

Hi Defragmenting the MSTS partition and persuading Microsoft to actually create a true multitsaking file system would assist. The first option is one that is possible, the other, well, keep waiting. We will continue to wait for each file to be accessed so faster access will help. A SATA2 drive if yo...

Reverse Doppler Effect (and my fix)

Hello, I posted the following on the Train-Sim.com Sound forum but figure people here might be interested as well. GaryG Hi I've noticed for a while that the Doppler effect has been working in reverse for a few months here. Today I did a lot of MSTS digging with no cure found. When the train passed ...

Re: my trains look squashed!!

Hi Still looking for the cure? Try a search for "aspect ratio". I think there are some threads at train-sim.com and possibly here as well explaining what to try. The methods vary depending on the video drivers (ATI/nVidia). In my case it also involved a setting on the monitor (1:1 pixel size). GaryG

Try launcher.exe and select "Change Video Driver" first, that may help.

Re: Acivity Editor Missing

Hi A suggestion. It's been found by people using multiple MSTS installs that it's safer to use train.exe as the launcher. The problem is launcher.exe uses the registry to decide which copy of train.exe to run but a shortcut direct to train.exe will run the copy the shortcut points to. It's not too m...

Re: Train shakeing

Hi When you have an external view locked to a short car, the more you will see side to side shakeing. The shorter the length is defined, the worse the shake. This may be your problem. I'm fairly certain it's the length defined in the .sd file that governs this. On North American rolling stock, the F...

Re: Error reading train database.

Hi You can also get that type of error if there's a typing error in the .wag file. I had one like that recently and it took quite a while to discover the 'v' I had accidently entered at the start of one of the lines in the file. Get out your magnifying glass (or try reinstalling that wag if it's a n...
