If you like to put up with horrible smells, small seats and a bad view out of a window, All apply equally to GNER Mallards, the Mallards also have worse luggage space (I've had to leave a case in another coach before!) I don't find Mallard seats as comfy as voyager ones, I've also ended up twice in...

Is that in standard or first... IME I'd rather take a Voyager over a Mallard (both for comfort and GNER's attitude to those who don't travel first) If you like to put up with horrible smells, small seats and a bad view out of a window, then perhaps so! I've never noticed GNER have a bad atti...

From what I was told, St. Pancras will just about cope with the Eurostar traffic.

Getting rid of the HSTs and replacing them with insufficient rolling Stock has got to be one of the biggest errors made by a TOC in recent years.

It's ironic that they hire in stock they got rid of to deal with to deal with demand in the summer!

I wonder what the likelihood would be of a V*yager working a service from Stansted to Birmingham.... Unlikely. They'll be streched enough just keeping up with the services they retain from now, with the transfer to WC. Doubt they're cleared for the route either. What a wonderful piece of planning.....

I wouldn't mind seeing the Woodhead reopen - as do most of the people who post on here.

I just can't see it happening, though.

Only certain HSTs are cleared - those with the Short Link variant of the BT10, as standard BT10s may foul the third rail. FGW gained some Short Link Bogie HSTs from Cross-Country (who had them to work Bournemouth and Eurostar Link services) when the Voyagers arrived. I knew that something about "Sw...

NRM has a fantastic collection.

Personally, I think the NRM has done a very good job at capturing railway history from a bygone era to the present.

Normally via Ascot. They can also use the West London line, I believe. Is Richmond a given? When the SWML is diverted via Staines, the up trains go via Brentford, and down trains via Richmond. I went via Richmond on an HST coming out of Waterloo. HSTs have got clearance on the West London line as E...

They go down the Southern route from Reading via Ascot and Richmond.

I once went by HST from Waterloo to Reading.
