Re: Pipe Organs and Steam Engines

My Grandad had one of those portable pipe organs made by a company up near Thursford - made a lovely sound but it was quite loud and a lot of effort to keep turning the handle at a constant speed. Must admit that I did wonder about the practicalities of owning a traction engine and running it on the...

Re: RAF 90th Anniversary flypasts - 1/4/2008

Jon - the NOTAM prohibits aircraft other than those in the formation from flying below 2500 ft in the corridor over London. If you look at that thread over at UKAR forums it tells you the approximate timings of when the formation is flying over each RAF base. I am glad to say that it is not just foc...

To mark this event there will be two major flypasts over London as well as other RAF bases throughout the UK. The main event is the Red Arrows in formation with 4 Eurofighter Typho...

Re: Severn Valley Railway is Reconnected......................

A significant amount of work has gone into trying to mitigate the effects of any future deluge - soil nailing, hydro-seeding of embankments and cuttings, new and enlarged drainage pipes, channels etc. improved maintenance plans for existing culverts and newly discovered ones. The railway is now in v...

Re: New DLR Units Have Arrived
