Yeah RE the North Circular, the story i heard was that vandals released the brakes over night and the damage wasn't discovered until the morning.
I've seen a 442 in a similar situation though.

Seriously though, the Mid Hants are very good. The guy who does it is strict, but strict in a way that you learn so much so easily.

East Kent railway, near Dover. Drive a Class 33 and do some shutning aswell as trips of the line. Feel the engine come to life as you open it up going through the tunnel near Shepherdswell.

Well i wouldn't expect a sensible answer out of a Thameslink bloke, after all, most of their units have wheel flats so bad i sounds like you're actually riding behind a kettle on wheels, doing 16 beats to the bar {chimney wise}
Either way, they weren't stuck to the rails.

i think theyare there as a warning to other drivers like the horns on road traffic although they can be annoying to people near the railways no where else :-? Unless you're at stand, you're rarely hear another trains horn in you're cab, its even less likely with the newer stock, something to do wit...
