You are absolutely right, I wasn't sufficiently specific. I was referring to the use of three cylinders, regardless of which axles were driven. Gresley preferred that all cylinders drove the same axle, tho' there were exceptions such as the Sandringhams.

Thanks guys - I've upped the display quality and the trackside feature has disappeared. I think when I reinstalled MSTS I must have opted for a lower level of graphics. One other wee thing - although 'Southwold' is very abstemious on water on the down run, it now has dry tanks. I've tried 'T' at the...

SR 'Trackside Advertising' Finally I have got around to reinstalling MSTS, mainly so as to play with the little trains in Suffolk. However I haven't noticed any one else reporting this 'feature': http://www.kinkajou.eclipse.co.uk/ESSMEE/images/SR-NGTrack.jpg The white lines either side of the clean...

The SR ended with the last passenger train came into Southwold on April 11, 1929. drawn by No.4 Wenhaston. Stock was tidied up and gathered in Halesworth yard, with the last day of operation being April 20. The railway remained, slowly decaying, until demolished for scrap during WW2. The line was cl...

SG100 - I've looked at the 001 images in the download section, and I really cannot tell that they are built to 5'3" and are running on 4'8.5"! So that decides it for me: my first loco attempt will be to a true 5'3" and scaled correctly. Further details as and when some/any progress is made .. Patrick

Absolutely stunning .. I'm gob-smacked. The coaches are beautiful and the view of Southwold from the Common most convincing. Is the water-tower included? I can't remember when it was built, but no doubt not when the coaches were in cream! And when are the extensions to Kessingland and Laxfield due o...

Andy - Thanks for replying - there seems to be v. little activity in the MSTS Ireland department, I wasn't expecting anything so soon! There have been discussions about futher Finescale gauges and I have asked in the relevant area of the forum about this. I think 5'3" / 5'6" would be quite useful to...

I take it then that the various items of Irish stock run on 4' 8.5" - but are they scaled to achieve the correct proportions? Ie, to c.90.5%? Also, are there any public sources of drawings for GNR(I) locos such as the T1/2, JT, S, SG, U, Q, QG, V and VS classes? There is a LH elevation for the VS an...

Wonderful to get hold of the SR, I can't wait to get it running. Just one small thing, which I have no doubt you experts can answer very quickly. I can find xtracks in the UKTrainSim download files, but not the 'UK Finescale track' file(s) referred to. I have used the Downloads Search, but no succes...

jdtech - your avatar (Aelfred) is the 7.25" loco I most want! I saw it one Tinkerbell weekend and if I my car had a tow-hitch, I would have stolen it. I had the same temptation at Echills Wood last autumn when the 7.25" Garratt pulled up on a trailer. Mmmm! Here are pics of the Burmese Garratt: http...

It may already have been mentioned, but the GER Society have drawings of the 1500 class and the B12s on their website: http://www.gersociety.org.uk. I can't vouch for their quality, but the price is low!

.. Thank God for Gooch  Some of the pre Gooch creations where almost beyond belief. Indeed! The early GWR locos look so peculiar because a certain chief engineer (Mr IKB, no less), specified that the locos should not exceed certain key dimensions such as weight per foot of loco, axle loading a...
