Re: 3DC 9.2.2 crashing continually

I wonder if ( at least part of ) the problem is related to Nvidia graphics cards? I have a vague recollection of this being an issue discussed in the Amabilis forum some time ago - admittedly for an earlier version of 3DC. Replies from RB are few and far between these days, and searching the Amabili...

Re: 3DC 9.2.2 crashing continually

Pretty much the same for me. I found that working with the 'flat' drawing selected, the crashing events were a bit less frequent. Also noticed that the 'Trainworks' option switches off from time to time. The last M$ update ( end of last week for me) may have done something unhelpful I guess.

Re: newbie needs help with tutorials...

Hi Mike

Coming late into the 'Railworks' scene, I'd completely missed the thread on 3DC tutorials. It would be good to have it 'sticky' in this subforum too.

Re: newbie needs help with tutorials...

Hi Lorraine, Like you, I have issues with 3DC crashing unpredictably. I've raised them on the Amabilis forum but don't expect much of a response. Amabilis is a'one-man-band' led by Richard Borsheim. His responses to queries about the current version are patchy. I've found that using the 'Draw solid ...

Re: newbie needs help with tutorials...

Hi Lorraine I've just had a quick look at that tutorial - not something I've bothered with before. I'm new to v9 too, so not to be taken too seriously....... Anyway, if what you are seeing is a 'wireframe' view ie just lines making up the shape, theres a cube 'button' on the top toolbar of the shape...

Re: 3D Canvas 7 Not Working in Windows 7

Hi

Amabilis is a 'one-man band' and support does seem to be very patchy. I've just upgraded to v9 and found some issues - not showstoppers fortunately, but irksome all the same. Interesting to see how long a response takes.....

Re: Diesel loco cab roofs

Some time ago, Doug Kightley posted a tutorial for making a telephone box. I don't recall the details but that had a small roof curved in two directions. It's file id 13791 in the download library

Re: Landmark Guess the Location (5)

Well, another clue then,

The location is within a short walk of three memorials ( at least...), and reasonably near the site of a recent major event -or part thereof.

Re: Landmark Guess the Location (5)

smilies > Smiley > Le Carre > Guinness Your tinkering has been somewhat effective, the clue was obviously tailored to your taste, but you'll need to soldier on a bit further before you spy the character in question. :D If it helps, the cottage isn't far from Lacon's place, Smiley and Guillem almost...

Version 9 model origin

Hi folks I've just upgraded to v9. On opening an existing model, all looks to be OK except that the origin seems to have moved to the edge of the grid. It looks to be OK in the 'y' and 'z' directions. Before I do anything I might later regret........ have I missed something? Edit - On looking at som...

Re: R.I.P. Gary Soden (Neptune 50006)

Sad news indeed. Whilst I didn't know Gary, I'd admired the meticulous detail on the L&B route.

Condolences to family and friends.

Railworks and LOD's

Hi folks, Learning my way into modelling for RS/RW '2013' ..... I've looked at the RSTutorials and the various discussion on here about LOD's. RS seem to be specific about the LOD distances ( ie 32m/64m etc) whereas discussion here seemed to favour more arbitrary distances. Does it matter? Is there ...

Ooops!

Hi folks Whilst trying to home in on a small component I got distracted bythe arrival of a cup of coffee :) , now I've managed to move sufficiently far out of range that I now can't see the main scene  . I seem to recall that there was a way to get the view back, but can't for the life of me r...

Re: Landmark Guess the Location (5)

Well, Enid/Mary certainly lived in a thatched cottage ( at Bourne End) - but it was a bigger one than our current target.

As some clues in this thread are remarkably cryptic, there's a tenuous link to :D :)
