Hmm. On the news here yesterday, there was a picture of one of the small stations somewhere in Wales. Basically the tracks were invisible under about 1.5 - 2 feet of water! It was nearly up to the platform top!

To be fair with relation with (1), I couldn't find anywhere to put my route information pack, so I had to create a new section for it. Still, it could be done the way you suggest.
