So going back to my point the Zorcan, I can't make one complete image file of the route as I am only allowed 10 x 10km per image file. Therefore I should scan the entire route and think how best to link them together, then actually link them together before tracing contours, putting down the trackbe...

Terrain
Is it worth actually importing the entire route images from the OS map before tracing the contours?

Progress made.
I had a good play with MSTS and TSTF last night. I got as far as selecting the correct tiles and importing them to work in TSTF. I am now in the process of tracing contours! A lengthy job made harder by the fact the contours of my map are hard to read. My route starts in a city (Wolverhampton) and t...

I see...
Zoran, Ahh a font of useful information as always :) . So I basically make the Quad tree in MSTS as I would normally if I were making the route in MSTS. I understand your point about the grid lines being slanted in TSTF. I thought it was what the program was doing, I just wanted to check that this w...

Problem solved.
Ahh... thanks Zorcan, problem sorted. I have another question if you have time. This one concerns quad trees. I suppose there is more than one way of making a route and this is why I was a little stuck. I imported my map and auto-registered it. When I opened MSTS I found my map was in the central US...

Problem with 5x3km map
Bah... I fixed my problem. I halved the size of the map file and everything worked. I do still have a question. What are you supposed to put in to the preferences panel when you first start up the program? I tried putting things in and the program crashes when it tries to look for map files. I leave...

Ian, you raise an interesting point concerning the spelling of Wombourn(e). I agree, that the spelling of Wombourne is with the e. However, my spelling is not based on ignorance. Let me explain. The GWR, upon reaching Wombourne didn't like the fact the town had a very similar name to another on thei...

Yes, there are buildings left. In fact quite a few. I only wanted plans of Wolverhampton Low Level, I have the rest covered. There are buildings at Tettenhall (station building, coal-merchant's brick building, good shed, platforms), Compton (platform), Wombourn (main station building, coal-merchant'...

Beta test for me...?
Ian and John, You sound like the perfect beta-testers for me. You know exactly what the buildings I am making are like and can tell me if I get it wrong. Do either of you have a track plan? I will be making Wolverhampton Low Level at the height of its powers, so you can again see a King or Castle on...

Deleting MSTS files...
I recently decided to delete MSTS and reinstall it before I started on my new route, as I downloaded a lot of routes that made the program crash (my fault for not following instructions). When I re-installed the program I got all the routes I had downloaded and it tried to look for locomotives that ...

Actually I looked at the 47901 model that has been released. The window in question is present on this model. Can the author comment on whether the window was put back in and which photographs they used? Sorry to sound picky. I don't actually know much about 47901 other than it was a testbed for oth...

I'm not sure about this. The one photo I have seen of the window blocked out suggests that it is the window on the right of the loco as you look at the locomotive from the number 2 end. (I am determining the end which has the fan/grills at the top of the loco to be the number 1 end). Look at this ph...

47901
I saw that someone has posted a model of 47901 on UKTrainsim. It looks like a good model. However, I have a question. On one side of the real 47901 one of its windows (one of the two on the side of the body) were filled in. See this photo of it at Crewe. http://www.brush4.co.uk/gallery/pic47901crewe...

I'll do a Hymek starting August 1st
If anyone can send me the plans for a Hymek I will start right away. I haven't got anything to do other than route building.
