Re: Trainz 2009 available free for 30 days

In this context (ie as TransportSteve pointed out, a Trainz forum!) TS 2009 is Trainz Simulator 2009, which is what my Just Trains version is called. TS2009 is technically a correct abbreviation, the one used for that version's official forum; sorry about any confusion! It's the last version of Trai...

Trainz 2009 available free for 30 days

See here: http://ts2009.trainzportal.com/free/

Part of a promo for TS2019 apparently. All that's needed is to subscribe to receive the Trainz newsletter. Not sure when it closes.

Re: Problems with Class 105 DMU

The Cravens DMU I have is the one that came with Mid-East UK, and per the readme is by Richard Scott, April 2002. The .eng ones dating from August 2002 so are definitely not edited to handle Open Rails. This works fine in OR (also X4103 here) including acceleration & gears - except that in the exter...

Re: OR Graphic Settings

Under the Options/Experimental tab, try setting 'Extend object maximum viewing distance to horizon' first, otherwise (if I understand the manual right right) the object draw distance will be the default MSTS 2,000m, so you will get the visible draw-in, regardless of other settings. Then go to Settin...

Re: Brake problems

I think what would help here is a tabular compilation of 'Fixes for MSTS content in OR' along the lines of 'Issue - possible cause - solution(s)'. A lot of this iseems to be 'out there' and newbies like me or returning old-bies (?) have to do a lot of poking about, somethimes asking questions for wh...

Re: Ballyshannon

Ditto, Dave, will be keeping a weather eye onen for part 2 also, especially after I realised it's the one with the 450 Class 'thumper', like the last remaining set I snapped in preservation at the Downpatrick & County Down Railway on a dull day in June 2015: P1030981.JPG One thing I noticed in Open ...

Re: Ballyshannon

Hi and thanks Dave, it's Ivor here. Ballyshannon was available via CD from UKTrainsim, prior to the release of Irish Enterprise North. It was a 'localisation' of Bala Hub. The stock illustrated included some additional 80 Class liveries available here. I have since acquired Irish Enterprise North fr...

Re: Trains stop accellerating at c.16 MPH

EDIT - using the 'Initialise brakes' key combo, Shift+/ , releases the coach brakes, though this shouldn't be necessary. At least I can now get going, pending a better solution.

Re: Trains stop accellerating at c.16 MPH

Well I have identified the nature of the problem, though not yet solved it, which will be the next step. I tried changing the .eng file entry for numwheels from 1 to 12 (as per the MT NIR GM 111 Class). Maybe this low value produced low adhesion in OR? No joy. Paging throught the Shift+F5 screens I ...

Re: Trains stop accellerating at c.16 MPH

Sorry if this gets out of step with my 'thank you' post, Stephen - being 'new here' my posts are still queued for moderator approval - but... 1. 37001 is now spot on with your fix, thanks again, however... 2. working thru the other diesels that came with MEUK, they have a similar lack of power (test...

Re: Trains stop accellerating at c.16 MPH

Many thanks for the tip and encouragement, Stephen - off now to give that a go! Am having a ball playing the several payware and freeware add-ons for MSTS acquired years back, and have actually ordered another couple. Truly, Open Rails is a much superior platform and I am very grateful to all involv...

Re: Trains stop accellerating at c.16 MPH

Well, that was short lived!

I'm back to the 16mph top speed with 37001 and the 6 Mk1s. The edits had no effect. Whatever it was got the successful outcome, must have been unrelated, and I can't reproduce it - doh!

Re: Trains stop accellerating at c.16 MPH

Problem solved, I think! After a bit more searching, and looking at this post... http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=147917&p=1820972&hilit=brake+type+problem#p1820972 ...I opened the .wag files of all the blue&grey Mk1s, and changed their brake entries on lines 23-23 to read like thi...

Trains stop accellerating at c.16 MPH

Help, please! Driving BR diesel-headed trains (from the original Mid East UK route, updated to 1.3) in Open Rails, this is a typical experience... I got around the problem of the train not moving at all, by making the edit to the loco's .eng file (to set two pairs of braking parameters to the same v...
