Re: New Laptop Advice
Thank you for the reply. It is very difficult to decide! I'm not a massive game player so the laptop would just be for RW, I'm also not fussed about portability, I don't plan on carrying the laptop around anywhere. So the Asus is the way to go? I still feel weird recommending a laptop for gaming - ...

Re: New Laptop Advice
Keep an eye out for the Asus G75VW as an alternative to the G74SX. It's hot off the press (availability is still sketchy), and it has updated mobile graphics and cpu. I think I'd be avoiding superseded laptops, given that I'm limited in upgrade options later. I'm sort of struggling with a similar de...

Re: Railworks Spring Specials 4th to 7th May 2012
Managed to snag Portland and IoW from the sale - very happy about the prices of both. I drove the intro scenarios for Portland last night, and driving down Commercial Street (?) I realized that now I want to go to Portland and see it all for real. That's never happened with a simulation before, it's...

Re: Something is going to happen?
Personally I'm hoping for an overhaul to the RW engine, fully optimized to take advantage of the multi-core cpu's and current generation gpu's. I figure that this would be done through an SP1 or more likely a TS2013, and really should be aiming to set a standard for all the existing routes released ...

Re: purchasing non steam railworks addons
I've bought a couple of things from JT and AP, and the process was pretty standard for online software purchases (add to cart, purchase, email with link to downloads, download a .exe file, install as a normal program). Once it's all installed, I copy all the install files to an external drive for ar...

Re: Assistance with AI Collisions
Thanks for the feedback. While I'm a bit concerned about the possible lack of testing on the scenario developer's part, it's comforting to know that the issue isn't caused by a quirk or nuance in the installation itself. I'm guessing then that I've just had bad luck when choosing scenarios to drive....

Assistance with AI Collisions
Perhaps it's just bad luck, but in the last week or so I've been encountering a number of AI Collision errors during different scenarios that have made me wary of tackling longer scenarios - drive for an hour, only to have something seemingly random break the scenario and throw you back to the main ...

Re: New Route Announcement from RSC: Settle to Carlisle
Well, that's more than enough reviews for me. *wanders off to find a credit card* Quick newbie question - this pack comes with the class 66 and 37, previously released as standalone dlc (but with different liveries). Will the S-C pack-in versions of these trains be enough to satisfy scenario require...

Re: Payware in Scenarios
As a newbie to the Railworks-beyond-Steam community (at least, that's what the inside of my head seems to be calling it today), I think it's awesome that this massive pile of assets have been made available, and that people are creating scenarios with a wealth of options to breathe life and extra au...

Re: 50% of lots of TS2012 DLC at GetGames
I have it, and it is a good (if quite demanding route). Only down side is that it hasn't been updated since TS2012, and since then the 450 is rather underpowered (and has not rain on the windows or projecting lights if that sort of thing bothers you). Hopefully it will get an update in due course, ...

Re: 50% of lots of TS2012 DLC at GetGames
do you have Portsmouth Direct already? Question from a forum newbie - I can't find a lot of information on whether the Portsmouth Direct route for TS2012 is highly regarded. There seems to have been a bunch of supporting DLC, which to me suggests that it's been well received. The content appeals to...
