Re: Mid East Plus - testing under Open Rails
Tested Birmingham NS to Cambridge again, this time removing the traffic "CP Cambridge UP LS" that was blocking my path (it turns out it was AI not a static consist as I erroneously thought earlier). Instead I came to a signal at Danger (Red) which refused to change in spite of how many times I hit t...

Re: Mid East Plus - testing under Open Rails
Some more test results: Baby Deltic to KX: Ran fine, arrived KX on schedule. First attempt delayed by red signal N. of Welwyn North where it goes to 2 tracks, by creeping up to signal it eventually cleared. Worked OK 2nd time and arrived at KX a minute early. Not sure why the difference in behaviour...

Re: Running Open Rails with Linux
Since Monogame allegedly runs on Linux, could one use the Monogame version of OR?
I have been thinking about this too now that Win 7 has reached end of support and I don't really want to pay for Win 10 unless I have to.

AWS Sounds
I know many locos have the AWS "sunflower" display activate when you get a restrictive signal aspect. Has anyone figured out how to modify the eng files to add the bell and warning horn, also to have to press the acknowledge button to silence the horn. I imagine the "alerter" key (Z) would be the ke...

Mid East Plus - testing under Open Rails
After running a few MEP activities I thought it would be useful to run a more comprehensive test of MEP under the current stable version of OR which is 1.3.1.4328 as of this writing. Since the latest such comprehensive test was done back in March 2014 I feel this would be useful as OR has progressed...

Re: Mid East PLus Birmingham NS to Cambridge
Thanks for the spreadsheet Mike. I see this was done in 2014. I wonder if newer versions of OR might do better. For example I have had no problems running the DMU's with transmissions. For example Cravens to Ely. The B4 activity seems to run well also (North London Line with EMU's from and to Hampst...

Mid East PLus Birmingham NS to Cambridge
Running this activity under OR, works fine until I get within a mile or two of Cambridge. I am running about 4 min late due to my incompetence at working the brakes and making station stops. I come to a signal at danger. It appears to be a ground signal? With a red and white light. I am able to tab ...

Re: MEP activity Boston Containers
I deleted the train (CP Skegness Leicester) from the traffic and activity files and the activity works fine now. I suspect the problem is that the path is already set for the player train to enter the main so the passenger has no way to get out of the station. Probably a difference in how OR calcula...

MEP activity Boston Containers
Has anyone run this activity under OR? I am having a couple of issues. I start my train and pull out onto the main where there is a red signal displayed on the F4 display (about where the signal mast is pointing the other way) but there is no corresponding signal on the route. As I pull up to the "v...

Mid East Plus and OR
After playing with SCP for a while I decided to have a go with MEP which I had bought and installed at the same time. The first action was to fire up the DOS command line and rename all the activity, service, traffic, etc. to have the correct file extensions. Generally everything has run fairly well...

Re: Scottish Central Plus with OR
Thanks for the info. I will definitely download those patches and look at the miniroute utility.
I also got MEP when I bought the SCP route but haven't done anything with it yet other than install it. I want to finish checking out SCP first.

Scottish Central Plus with OR
I recently received and installed the Scottish Central Plus route from UKtrainsim. I thought I'd document some of my experiences. For one thing the route installs as a miniroute and assumes you have an existing MSTS install. During the install one of the steps it runs a batch file that looks up the ...

Re: Problems with Class 105 DMU
I was able to get the Class 105 running by making some changes suggested by an .eng file posted over at Elvas Tower.

Re: Problems with Class 105 DMU
I did that search. Frustratingly it seems that people have figured out what eng file changes need to be made but they don't say what they are. The one discussion about the class 3 chunters got close but then veered off into a discussion about animating the controls in the cabview. Something I may wa...

Problems with Class 105 DMU
I recently downloaded the BR Class 105 DMU set for an activity I wanted to create on the LTS route. In testing them out on OR I find I cannot get them to run over 1 mph at full throttle no matter what gear I select. I did all the usual things such as making sure all brakes are released, using the sh...
