Phil,
I am saying up front that (as with most foks in the new sim) I am not very knowledgeable of the inner workings of
RS so it may be beyond me to do as you hope....but I will check it out once I have the unit working as desired for use.

Re: EMD F7 A
Hi, They way I have gotten all my creations into RS is by first copying an existing blueprint from a diesel engine into a new (named) directory. then altering the names within the blueprint to match the new locomotive, then alter the rest of the blueprint later after the unit works in the sim. Thing...

Re: New Unit that everybody will love to watch
Phil,
My CEBX800 from MSTS is my first attempt at this monster....that was about 2 years or more ago and it turned out to be pretty popular with the folks on Train-sim.com.
Here's a pic

I hope to have this one be much more detailed and better textured.

New Unit that everybody will love to watch
Hi again, I am starting on a gargantuan project to get the CEBX800 from MSTS into a more presentable form and then into RS. I have completed the basic undercarriage for 1/2 the unit and am now trying to get the sim to work with 9 bogies so that it looks good and works as it should...articulating thr...

Re: New Locomotive for US underway
Here ya go. [album 208739 RS_RS11_Ingame.jpg] I noticed that the text is smeared when you get a ways out from the units....but up close it is clear....any way to fix this ? I used a seperate piece for the DH shield logo and it worked well, but the model has no place for a similar spot for the long n...

Re: New Locomotive for US underway
One more repaint for the RS11....this one has decal items and more paintable BMP's I have ended up with a monster set of files to make this work the easiest....20 BMP's in all, I dont know if this is too much as the unit runs ok and loads ok on my system. I am getting 160 fps with all this going on ...

Re: New Locomotive for US underway
Latest repaint of the RS11 it is now in perfect shape to be repainted by anyone.....and it still needs a cab and lighting...I have given up on shadowing due to the fact that I believe I am still missing some needed .FX files not included in the US release version. maybe Derek can help me out. Here's...

Re: New Locomotive for US underway
hey, This unit is taking a while because I am using all objects to make the details...if you model a basic shape unit and give the details like windows and grabs on the ACE file then it cuts down the work to maybe half the time. The best units I have found have a good mix of object and ACE details s...

New Locomotive for US underway
HI All, I am currently 60% done with an RS-11 for the US routes (and anyone else). It is in need of the Cab and shadows and lighting. And proper Blueprint settings. None of these things am I familiar with, so it may be a long time before this unit sees the light of day on anyone else's route. I have...

3D Canvas Tutorial for Shadows
Hi All, I thank Derek and the rest for the information on Shadowing for Rail Sim, but I still cannot get the shadow to work correctly within the Sim. So i propose that someone (an expert) (if there is such a thing) please post a tutorial of this process with pics of the heirachy and names of the BMP...

Re: Shadows (a simple explanation ?)
Derek & all, I have fixed my installationof Rail Sim and procured the needed .fx files. So I tried to place the model in Rail Sim and still no shadowing. So I am stumped.....here is my progress so far. In 3D Canvas my directory naming for the shadow is Main---| Softshade_Flatcar---| Softshade (this ...

Re: Shadows (a simple explanation ?)
Peter, Thanks for the "simple" method...all of this I already have in place...however, now I have found a site which describes my exact problem and leads to the realization that the StencilShadow.fx shader that should be in DEV\SHADERS directory within Rail Sim is absent... This problem is only with...
