Re: Running Open Rails with Linux

Thank you Stephen. At the moment I'm writing this via a Live Session with Linux on a flash drive , nowhere near running Open Rails yet, to anyone who hasn't tried Linux yet, everything is very different, but I remain hopeful.

Re: Running Open Rails with Linux

Just looked on openrails.org, which states that OR will not run on non Microsoft platforms.....but has Linux been tried ? Well I'm not giving up just yet. If anyone reading this has access to the ELva's Tower forum can you see if there's any info there ?

Re: Running Open Rails with Linux

Well, it seems that I just need to download Linux on to a bootable flash drive so that I can see if MSTS and OR work and I'll let you know.

Running Open Rails with Linux

A topic which will be blindingly obvious to some of you I know but bear with me. When the hard drive on my PC finally died I bought a recon Pc which works well apart from the fact that I could no longer run MSTS as apparently it was incompatible with a newer processor. So I installed OR and MSTS on ...

Re: Huddersfield & Environs 1920 V4

I've previously run V2 and V3 successfully I then installed V4 as directed, only to receive this message. Anyone have any clues ?

Re: LNWR Tanks

Thanks Ged As it happens there is NO readme file with the LNWR tanks so how can I read what is not there ? Assuming that the cab is based on File ID 4384, the readme for that has "scotsman.cvf" as the .eng file entry. It's not that I was complaining about the locos, just trying to be helpful to anyo...

LNWR Tanks

Brian Bere-Streeter deserves a huge thank you for uploading these tanks. Just one or two points though, as supplied the cabview doesn't work so I've installed the Period Tank cabview I use on some other locos. If you do this remember that the line in .eng file should read "scotsman.cvf". The light e...

Oh well, many thanks for letting me know.

The Johnson tank will just have to keep going for now.

Where are they now ?

The other day I was doing a bit of revision on the Route Riter help pages when I found these entries on the eng./wag. File Editor page:- BD_2P_41900 ; BD_2P_41901 ; BD_2P_46900 which are Fowler 0-4-4Ts and an ex LNWR 2-4-2T. Their special significance to me is that my first train ride over 60 years ...

Path Editor Tutorial

I've just found this on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKgldaHZeLA - which finally answers my query of over 12 months ago on the use of OR Path Editor. This tutorial has been on YouTube since 2014. When the Activity Editor is finished can we PLEASE have a Manual that explains exactly how ...

Re: South East Steam Loco Problem

HI,having recently installed this great route i have tried the activities Final Days of Steam Part 1and 2 and the sounds when driving the Battle of Britain class loco No 34083 seem to be not quite right. They seem to be more of a clunking sound and not the usual exhaust beat.Has anyone else had this...

Re: loco 10000

I had this problem as well, and not just with this loco. Thanks to this fix I can now run 10203, D0280 and 10800 which were previously unusable, the other thing seems to be improved braking efficiency. So a big THANK YOU to Stephen. :onfire:
