Central will use whatever they can get sometimes, like any other operator would! I remember travelling on a BNS - Cardiff return worked by a Centro 150/1 a few years back. A lovely journey! The BNS - Attenborough leg would be Central Trains, so likely to be a 156, 158 or maybe a 170 if you're lucky. The 156/8s condition can be anything from ok through to diabolical, but if you land a 170 it should be quite a comfortable journey. Could be worth remembering that Brum-Nottingham services ...

I think for rail staff discounts using FIP on Eurostar, you need to book through Rail Europe ( http://www.raileurope.co.uk/ ) over the phone. Make sure they know you are a FIP holder and you will likely need to quote the number on your pass at some point. I don't know what the price is for a standar...
