Sounds more like it - SWT seem to love their Desiros. My alternative solution would be some 2-car Desiros - like the 456s, only better! What movements do the 455's make from the SWT side of the tracks to Ashford? I presume it's up Factory Junction, then either via Beckenham Junction or Catford, through Bromley and that way?
