Union Pacific Challenger

Hi all, I've been working for the past two years (yikes) on replicating the Union Pacific Challenger for Trainz. SUre, there's a payware model available, but it's not very accurate, and I think the community can benefit from a free version. Anyhow. This project has being going on off-and-on since it...

If you have a good computer and graphics card, you can download TrainzTuner and increase the draw distance just about as much as you want. The current version can go up to 86km. Be warned that this has a tendency to be a real framerate killer ;)

Auran has put out a call for testers for the Mac version of Trainz. They're probably done taking applications, seeing as how they've already had over 1,000 applicants ;) But that does suggest to me that a Mac version of TRS2006 will be imminent.

I found the train on the Trainz official site. I'm not going to download it at this time as I have no idea how to install custom content in Trainz! If it's a .CDP file, and you have Trainz installed, just double-click the .cdp as you would an executables. A menu will pop up giving you legal ., then...

It may be a bit late, but I have written an iPortal Tutorial. Access at http://www.steamtrainz.com/iportal_tutorial/index.php . If you want to use iPortals with me add atsfrr3000 to your contact list. I'm also working with a friend to set up the first "virtual railroad" using TRS2006. It's coming ou...

Sadly, quite a few modellers of custom content are only aiming to make the model and textures themselves, neglecting a lot of other things like in-game preview images, icons, custom dependancies (hornsound, cab interior, etc.) and this includes shadows. In my opinion it is fairly easy to make shadow...

Scripting of some sort?

I'd like to know if KRS will have some sort of scripting language? Trainz has had, since SP3, a scripting language called TrainzScript (imagine that! :D) that has always done wonders for those who know it. When TRS2004 made it possible to script assets (not just scenarios as before) we began seeing ...

I take it an American route, just for variety, is completely out of the question? If it's because of a lack of American locos, I could "donate" a few, although I hardly think a large software firm would be up for that :( Looking forward to it either way, hoping I can get it one way or another. -Chri...

That's so little I could keep it in my shed! :D

Nice little loco, too bad its not on the DLS so I could include it in a few of my sessions :(

Hmmmm, was just browsing the 2006 website and stumbled across this :)

http://files.auran.com/TRS2006/manuals/CMP_Manual_1.pdf

It was actually more of a sneak peek to generate excitement, but you may find it of use :)

Just about the only thing I have against CMP (going on what I've heard, I still dont have it ;) ) is that Auran has made it a our-way-or-the-highway thing. Ever since waaaaay back in v1.3 (maybe even sooner!) an awesome fellow by the name of Terry Franks had been making a program called TrainzObject...

NeutronIC....Yeah, I agree that the steam physics in TRS2004 were a bit of a let-down. A lot of people (including Auran's external beta-testing crew) have said that the steam physics and controls have been MUCH improved, although I'll have to find out for myself. I should be getting my copy in a few...

I made a note, and it still didn't occur to me to test that when reviewing the sim, I guess it's just not something many people will do :) When it came to actually driving the locos, it just didn't feel right, in fact it felt largely like I was driving a diesel that looked like a steamer :) Matt. P.S. How come this forum doesnt have a seperate forum for Trainz? It seems to have a forum for every other major train sim, and Trainz is certainly a major player in the train sim market, something even seasoned MSTS can't deny very much.
