Re: Cab Signalling

No displaying speed limit info till passing the signal sorta defeats the point of cab signalling. That's how the real PCCS works. It's a simple speed enforcement system, not a prediction system, and is not as advanced as TVM (it was designed in the 1920s). See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k...

"Unhandled Exception" would be the correct terminology.

They don't. At least not in RW2.

Re: The DVT discussion thread

You can have an Update() function in the engine script, but it isn't started automatically. You need to start it by invoking the "BeginUpdate" call, from one of the other engine script functions (e.g Initialise(), OnControlValueChange(), OnConsistMessage()).

Re: Problem with Auto Numbering not showing in game

It's not reading the numbers out of the numbering csv file, that's why the big hex number is showing. Check the compiled dcsv file to see if it looks ok. Also try editing the carriage number in the scenario editor - does this cause the correct number to show on the asset?

Re: Class 317 reskins

The body mapping for reskins of the "mark 1" version should still be ok. Amendments that will need to be made are colouring the new rain strips over the doors, plus the driver door rails and door buttons. Mesh improvements on the gangway are mapped to the same texture location as before, so should n...

Aha, you still need to fill in the control values section in the engine blueprint. It must include standard core software parameters such ...

Re: Creating all the controls

if you just want the standard controls and key definitions you don't need to define your own input mapper. Just leave the input mapper references in the engine blueprint blank and the default input mapper will be used.

Re: reskinning help

I use an old freeware version of Paint Shop Pro (PSP4) to manipulate the alpha (mask) layer separately. It doesn't do the transparency merging that Gimp and Paint.net does.

Re: Coupling?

Yeah, I manually unwrap all my rolling stock, it's the only way to efficiently use the texture space, and concentrate the pixels where detail is most needed. Regarding your error - it might be a problem with the texture filename paths in the new material indexes you created - make sure the paths are...

Re: TrainGlass.fx and Object Texture Setting in Railworks

When you create a uncompressed texture with an nm suffix the editor also compiles a compressed version of the texture. This is used when the lower graphic settings are selected. Unfortuately ToAce creates this geometric artifacting in the alpha channel when performing compressions. I don't know if t...

You know I never actually noticed that :-) Mind you I don't generally use the test trak, I just use my own much simpler test routes.

Re: Class 421 4CIG - Coming Soon

Dave B's EPB sets are wonderful models and the cab model is also fantastic. If I had the relevant digital skills I'd try to tone down the shine ( specular effect) of the external texture finish...that goes generally and for RS.coms texture finishes. The BR blue & blue/grey ones? I could do a set wi...
