Re: 3dsMax Unwrap and multi animation help

There is no need to attach all parts together to unwrap, just select all the items then the unwrap option. This lets you have just one texture while preserving the individual items ready for animation and avoid messing up the pivot points.

Re: Loft oddities

Is the glazed section part of the geometry or a child object, as lofts don't like child objects?

Re: Wire Connector Blueprint?

It's a while since I did the telegraph poles for Stainmore but I'll try to remember how I did it. If you have this route you can have a look at my files under eyore/Stainmore and have a play in the editor with placing new poles. Also have a look at this video to see what things should look like http...

If you don't set the brakes to "running" they really drink up the water.

Re: SSS Stainmore route

* There is a slight issue with LODs on viaduct structures that gives them a green tint in the distance until you come close. Paul I investigated this last night, as Id noticed it too, I sent SSS an email last night about some other bits but forgot to mention this The texture has had 9 mipmap levels...

Re: SSS Stainmore route

Has anyone else noticed in the scenario editor, with no other stock enabled, one gets 'Cauliflower' and 'Cauliflower Tender' in the list? The tender works but the loco doesn't. I know a cauliflower isn't listed amongst the included stock, so can anyone explain this and how one might get it to work ...

Re: Missing workmen / drivers / people

I have added these workmen to a route without a problem, just to be sure they can be added. 2 points I noticed, which are probably irrelevant, but my files have Keithmross (capital K) as developer while you don't. Secondly, you don't have the left hand column ticked in the right hand drop down asset...

Re: Freight Services on the Weardale Network in the 1950's

As far as I remember there are no collieries in Weardale, so there won't be any colliery traffic. There were lots of lead mines, limestone and fluorspar quarries but by 1950 the only traffic, in my opinion, would be the cement works (Blue Circle?) traffic from Eastgate, plus passenger and farm traff...

Re: fx_night

You can only have one "night" node per asset. So either split your station into separate assets each with a night node or you could combine your night nodes into a new asset and use multi/sub object (don't know what Blender calls this) to apply the different textures. Or create a new combined textur...

Re: Gauge needle lighting

Are the calls for textures and emissive qualities contained wholly within the .ban files? Ban files only call the animation, you need to identify the relevant geopcdx file for the needle to access texture and emissive details. As the needle is probably a tiny part of a large texture it will be diff...

Re: Two Questions: 1 on LOFT and 1 on Viewable distance

The viewing distance is controlled by LOD's which are in the geopcdx file and can be opened in RWTools and altered. There will be a LOD entry for each node of the model so you may have difficulty finding the right one, but experiment with the changes and see what happens.

Re: Creating transparent parts to a model

If you are using 3ds Max then, as AndiS suggests, use TrainBasicObjectDiffuse.fx and select "Transparent" in the Transparency rollout. Create a Black and White mask in the Alpha channel of your texture and that should do the trick.

Re: The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway

It was the 5th anniversary of Gary's death which prompted me to dig out my old files and start to update the Lynton & Barnstaple stock to more modern standards. It is a slow process as I only fit it in when I can, between my other ongoing projects, but here's a quick glimpse of what has been achieve...
