Dorset Coast Patch

Postby ccsdc on Fri Jul 29, 2005 2:27 pm

After much head scratching I have managed to isolate and fix the problem on Dorset Coast when changing the points at Branksome causes a computer lockup.

I still do not know what the problem was but simply altering the arrangement of straight track pieces either side of the switch was the solution. :-?

I have just uploaded a patch file awaiting approval.

I am off tomorrow, so any further problems will have to wait until I am back on 15th August. I have just looked in the brochure and our hotel has got internet connection in the rooms. I think I would be in bit of trouble if the wife catches me on UKTS though. :D

Not if the points themselves haven't moved. (IE the node is still in the same place)

Yes, Alan is absolutely correct. I have not altered the point node at all, only the plain track, so no paths will be broken.

Incidentally on the same point (excuse the pun) all activity writers should note the siding track marker just West of Northam Junction, which indicates the "safe" start/end point for paths in version 1. That is beyond that point towards Northam, the track layout is going to change in version 2, so any paths created now will be broken.

Dorset coast patch

Postby chris higgin on Sat Jul 30, 2005 10:11 am

I have applied the patch re Branscombe depot but the first signal after Poole station stays at red, I also have lost the signal at Parkstone station, any answers to this would be gratefully received

No doubt a minor hiccup on a really good route, I would happily pay for this quality and will purchase the CD when available.

Dorset Coast Patch 1-2

Postby ccsdc on Sat Jul 30, 2005 4:02 pm

The problem of the inoperational signals between Poole and Branksome was a result of my previous fix to sort out the points at Branksome!! I have just uploaded patch1-2 to UKTS currently awaiting approval.

Dave

ps. I am walking out the door. Please don't find any more problems for the next 2 weeks. :D :D

Hi
Finally got round to applying patch 2....after re-installing because of floating car spawners etc.
Signal past Poole working again...unfortunately changing the points now,to go into the emu depot, causes a freeze as before.

Has anyone got a red immediatetely when passing the green starter, westbound, platform 3 at Soton Central, with the resultant game over message? Strange thing is, set graphics etc to minimum to improve fps at Soton and the signal behaves normally, as it does in Explore mode with normal graphics setting.

Jon,

Thanks for that one, I have just read and the symptoms are exactly the same. Similarly I got round the problem by arriving at and departing from, you've guessed it, platform 4.

Dorset Coast Patch File 1-3

Postby ccsdc on Tue Aug 16, 2005 10:41 am

I have just uploaded a patch file which fixes the following:

1. Finally fixes the problem of changing points in explore mode at Branksome to access the EMU depot and of "dead" signals between Poole and Branksome.

2. The signal leaving platform 3 at Southampton in the Down direction is now fixed.

3. The path from Lymington to Brockenhurst now starts at the buffer stops at Lymington Pier.

Still have no idea on the "floaters".

Dave,

I'd be interested to what the signal fix is (technical-wise) as the signals are widely used and perhaps a note in the kit might help future route builders.
