Seeking the Most and the Best....

Postby CrisGer on Sat Apr 07, 2012 9:06 pm

I am seeking in the library for the activities for Steam era Act with the best and most detailed routes..and the best and most detailed activity. My system can run just about anything in terms of complexity and I plan to add the 2 GB switch in case....but any suggestions most welcome....

I love Pat Dalton's Skipton, the wonderful Bedford Hitchin, and acts made by Richard Stevenson to give some sense of what I am seeking. I have many of the major routes including

BTB
Bedford Hitchin
Highland
Thames Mersey 4.3 Steam era
SDJR
Burton Derby V 2
Cannock Chase V 5
BATS LSW
Skipton
SkiptonV2
wsr
Black Country
Bala Hub 4.2
Southern Region Woking to basingstoke
The Steyming LIne (but it lacks so much scenery i may not use this for now)

i dont have the Paddington to Penzance or NWS2 and i do plan to get the SCR steam era version

but any of the lines above or others welcome suggestions.... steam era only pls.

I am open to adding new routes if helpful

I do own Severn Valley and have Toddington in archive, but i want only the most detailed and complete lines if possible.

Try Yorkshire Coast.

It's set on the LNER line to Whitby and includes the North Yorkshire Moors line before preservation.

it's an ideal route to run the recent Gresley coaches and the CD includes suitable stock for the area.

If it's got buffers it's Chain.

OK Ian, i had peeked at that route long ago, even tried to dl and assemble acts for it but the CD will be a better way to go, i love those old viaducts...so i will add that to my list. I wondered where to use those Gresley Coaches..thanks.

Hello Chris,

CAMBRIAN 2 (from 3DTrainStuff) comes immediately to mind. It's steam era, covering a large area from Oswestry and Shrewsbury to the Welsh coast at Aberystwyth and along the coast to Pwllheli. Plenty of detail, with branch lines, passing loops and sidings galore. Lots of activities on the CD and in expansion packs. It's a great companion route to Bala Hub, which I see on your list.

You'll want to avoid Cambrian 1,though, as it covers the coastal route Aberystwyth to Pwllheli as it is today i.e. "rationalised" and thus stripped of almost everything of railway interest !!

For the 1920 Skipton route you need

UKTS16362 to UKTS16374 inclusive - make sure to follow the readme instructions

For the 1946 Skipton route you need

UKTS16874 to UKTS16877, UKTS16879 to 16885 and UKTS 16887 - make sure to follow the readme instructions

Not currently having access to the download area of UKTS I cannot confirm that they are still available!

Alec

Reg was involved with Skipton V2 he may know more.

Do you have Premium Membership? If not do a naughty and buy a Community CD and take advantage of the I months free premium access. Then you are only limited by your connection speed.
