Desiro braking

Postby deltic009 on Fri Jun 21, 2013 3:26 am

So, I was sure it wasn't me being crazy in thinking the 450 Desiro braking was rubbish. I set up a couple of identical runs in Quick Drive and then smacked the brakes to around 55% from 60mph when passing Clapham Junction. This video shows the results.

There is a physics patch in the UKTS library somewhere that makes it so much better!

I had to apply the patch to drive the 450 on the Portsmouth Direct, as the timings on a stopper, mainly between Guildford and Haslemere, is quite tight as the stations aren't that far apart. Driving with the default brakes was a mission and I had to slow down pretty early and use the brakes hard, upto 95%, to stop in the station and I'd arrive late. Some stations I ended up gliding through even with the brakes on hard, and I found this quite annoying!

One good thing it shows from this I guess, is at least RSC just didn't copy and paste the brakes from the 450 to the 444.
