Denied!

The scenario failed to load.
Can't load rail vehicle - BR Mk1 First Maroon
Can't load rail vehicle - BR Mk1 Second Maroon
Can't load rail vehicle - BR Mk1 Brake Maroon

Where would I get those from?

Cheers

Oh dear, I was careful to only enable default assets and these coaches were in my default asset files. I am not sure where they have come from but it seems that not everyone has them.

I guess you can substitute these coaches using RW Tools but for the moment I have taken the file out of the library and will look at this later on.

Whoops! Sorry. :(

I think the coaches in question were a copy & paste install from the very early days, rather than having any kind of installer, so perhaps they show up as being Kuju assets, or whatever?

Anyway, I'll swap them out for the mo.

Hi

Well I suppose this highlights one of the problems in that it is very difficuilt to identify what are actually default assets and what are re-skins or adaptions pasted in the default folders,

I know that I did not lock the scenarios so it should be easy to get into them but it rather defeats the point of having an all default asset route. I will try again later and see if I can re-do the scenarios with actual default coaches, I think the green Mk1 's will be OK.

Let me know how you get on Bob

Hi

I swapped them with the blue Mk1 coaches and all is now well. I think the SR Green ones would be OK as well.

Hi

Just run the 'simple' scenario and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I think you've done a great job the way you filled in the yard and the signalling worked fine!

For some reason my engine had a bit of a drink problem and lost a gallon per second the whole way through - probably watering all the lineside foliage! :D

Thanks for sharing your route - it's amazing that it was done in a week. Well done indeed.

Cheers

Hi Bob

Thanks for letting me know how you got on. I have now uploaded a revised version using the Green Mk 1's and have run through the scenario twice again. Note that the loco only starts off with 30% water and coal so a refuel at the Yard is necessary.

I had a couple of glitches myself. One was after coming off the turntable and stopping at yard waypoint 14 where I could not get the points to change into siding 19a. Just on the verge of giving up I moved the loco forward a few feet and that immediately released the points and I was able to continue. Another glitch was an old RS feature where I had two turntable platforms showing but only one moved. This did not seem to affect play but it just looked all wrong.

Just a note for all, do not try to save the scenario when you are on the coaling side of the turntable, as it closes the scenario rather than saving it.

I apologise to everyone who had problems with the first upload, I sincerely hope the new one works better.

As a raw newbie at this I can confirm that the tutorial was very useful. I've now created my first template. Thanks Acorn, great work!

Hi there, I've downloaded this route and I'm getting the same problem as posted above loading the scenario (Failed to load BR Mk1 <x> Maroon). The file name says v11 and the readme that was in the zip file also mentions the v1.1 update replacing the stock with the default, so I really don't know what is happening here. Have some files got mixed up or is it just me? The splash screen on loading says v1.0 - is this expected?

I have this also, just downloaded last night.

Hi

I am also confused now as I changed the stock used in both scenarios so that they used the default green coaches and I tested each new package as well.

I think the coaches in question were originally provided by Paul Godber here - http://www.uktrainsim.com/filelib-info. ... leid=18011 - perhaps you could try installing these and see if that solves the problem.

Note that they probably install into the Kuju folder.

EDIT - According to RW Tools there are still some maroon coaches in one of the scenarios. I am checking further.

Geoff,
You impressed my very much by your ability to create such a beautiful scenery in such a short time.
After exchanging the problematic wagons, I ran the scenario twice, but found something rather weird. In both directions, the steam loco couldn't travel more speedy that 3.7 miles/h like climbing uphill all the way, but in both direction.
Also, after parking the train in the Heritage shed, I didn't obtain any information about ending the scenario.
Otherwise, excellent scenario in excellent scenery.

Cheers,

Adam

Hi Adam

Thanks for the compliments and feedback.

I am a bit embarrassed about the maroon coaches but it does highlight a problem with identifying 'default' assets. I am working on a system to prevent this from happening again. Having seen the Route Building Challenge entries (you all still have the pleasure) I am inspired to spend a bit longer on a route that only uses default assets. Ironically, there is a feeing of freedom when you only have a limited number of assets to use and although there is the danger that all routes will look the same, the Challenge Routes have demonstrated to me that you can use these assets in a wide variety of ways and obtain routes that do look different.

The crawling loco is a new one on me. I know that AI traffic sometimes crawls but not player locos so this is possibly something to do with your particular installation and not the route.

Some of the screen instructions in the scenario take a few seconds to appear on the screen. Sometimes you have to wait for the 'waiting time' to finish and then a few more seconds before the next command appears. This is more to do with my non-skills at scenario creation that anything else. There is actually a message at the end of the scenario to tell you that you have arrived and you should then get the scenario is over message but I think you have to wait a bit to get these.

This Challenge has taught me a great deal about the process of 'complete' route building and whilst I have created and uploaded two other full routes already, there is still much more to learn.

Wanted to let you know that the scenario ran fine with those coaches installed. The only odd thing I found was with some speed limits. There were some weird indications on the F3 tab with a 15mph limit near the station in the middle (is it Compton?), which at one point said it was -.02 miles away, and although there never seemed to be a limit, I did get some speeding notices in the stats at the end when I was travelling at about 50. Forgot to note where they were though.

The other speeding issues was that I had some speeding notices where the speed limit was listed as 0mph - is this something to do with the turntable? I've seen this is the Colton & Northern route too when doing scenarios involving the turntable. Maybe these are both issues with RW itself rather than the route?
