Well, it's got to be default - looks like from the foliage pack.

Thank you.
BDW., the foliage looks great in this image!

Yes it's from the foliage pack, and I believe I used a combination of Field_long01 and in places another grass texture to add a little variety to the grass.

Cheers,

James.

Hi Theo

All of the routes entered for the Challenge have some innovative ideas and foliage is used to great effect, particularly in the non-UK routes. When they are all released for general use, I am sure that each route will provide inspiration for anyone who already builds or aspires to build a route for RailWorks.

Hi Laurie

The routes are being judged at the moment by RS.com. UKTS and myself.

There are eight entries to evaluate and this can take a long time per route, especially as some of them are quite long and the scenarios take a while to complete. We had hoped to complete the judging by this weekend but it may extend a bit into next week.

Matt has volunteered to correct any technical faults with the routes and arrange to put them all in the UKTS library, but as there is very little to correct, it should not be too long now.

Has to be said, the standard of the entries is exceptionally high. If i'm honest, much much higher than I was expecting - very good indeed.

We're also looking at putting all the entries on to a UKTS Community CD too, as well as individually for download.

The challenge I think was an inspired moment. I think it has achieved exactly what all RailWorks fans wanted which is to generate interest, some great routes and demonstrated what can be achieved in just a week.

I also think the idea of routes that don't require lots of addons and extra downloads is a good idea. Don't get me wrong I really appreaciate all the efforts people goto to make buildings, objects etc. but I personally have found it hard in the past to make sure I have all the items required for a route. Mind you, UKTrainSim Premium Membership helps as then you can usually get all the downloads you need for a route.

I think we all owe a very big thank you to neutronic, acorncomputer, RS and all those people who entered. A fantastic job by all and I for one look foward to downloading the routes.

Just an idea but would it be possible to have an ISO image available for download as well as the being able to order a physcial CD and download individual routes. Would make it easier for people to get all the routes rather than one at a time.

Thanks again

Hi Jim

Thanks for your complimentary comments.

The judging is going well but it is taking a bit if time to get through the entries.

So far I have been through 7 of the entries which have magically taken me from the remarkable spiral railway in the heart of New Zealand to the craggy ravines and steep gradients of Western USA, from the green fields and gently sloping landscape of Ireland to the gateway to Europe in the South of England, across the sturdy industrial and gracious farming lands of the Midlands of England and finally I will be travelling to the spectacular landscape of Scotland.

A wonderful international mix of short (some not so short) routes that are remarkable not just for the short build time, but also for the skill and imagination of the builders.

Hi

Just an update to say that the Judges have completed their work and there is a clear winner. I am just waiting for confirmation that we are all in agreement before all of the winners are announced. I will also be sending pm's to all of the Challengers to thank them for their participation.

We did have a few problems in opening up and installing four of the eight routes originally. Three for the same reasons and the fourth for another reason. We worked out what the problems were and after a bit of tweaking, all of the routes ran well and revealed the amazing results of just one week's work. I will explain the reasons for the loading problems later but at the moment, Matt is just finishing adjustments to the route files so that when they are uploaded to the library, users should have no problems at all.

Hopefully winners will be announced and routes made available within the next few days and your spare Christmas time can be spent running eight brand new routes from across the World.

Hi all

All eight routes are now available from the UKTS Library, just in time to keep everyone busy over Christmas. These are amazing routes and each one has involved a lot of concentrated work from their creators.

Thanks to all involved and special congratulations to Keith Ross for the The Port Road route which the judges agreed was a particularly outstanding creation in the space of just one week.
