hi,
Now there has to be an easy way to do this

How does one measure along the track to place mile marker posts?

From memory, EXIT signals are used to EXIT the mainline and enter the yard... ENTRY signals are used to ENTER the mainline and exit the yard. It's kinda backwards, but the idea is that it's focused around the mainline and NOT the yard. ENTRY signals produce events to kick off the signalling on the main line, where as the EXIT signals consume them to stop them going on... or something like that.

I'm nowhere near signalling on my route yet, doubt I will get that far as I only have another hour or so realistically before I'm going to be out of time, another late night at work planned for tomorrow unfortunately and I don't get home until about 8pm at best even on a Friday.

hi,

To package or not to package, That is the question :D

My route shows a file size of 15.6Mg in C:\.....\Content\Routes\.....hexi who knows what .
I have packged it using the RW package and it comes out at 2.45MB.
As I have NO idea what to expect, is this a reasonable result?
I have remembered to included the "developer/product" folder from the assets, I presume thats the correct folder for my route template.

So much to learn, SO little time

Hi Ross

That is quite small for a route but just reflects the fact that there is practically no content in it, just instructions to RailWorks on where to place the assets already on the users computer. The .rwp file is in fact a glorified .zip file so the content has also been compressed.

You seem to have also picked the right asset folder to package up as well. Make sure you keep a copy of the file you are uploading for later reference or in case of disasters.

Hi Ross

You cannot upload to an ftp site using Firefox, it must be Internet Explorer. Firefox does not yet contain the necessary software.

I have just uploaded a test file using IE and that has worked OK. You should see this test file when you log on to the site.

Alternatively, FileZilla is an excellent free FTP client.

Hi

I see that I am using Firefox 3.0.15 and that there is a newer version of 3.5 available. Perhaps the later version now handles ftp access.

No problem, I use FileZilla for all FTP client requirements these days, it's quite excellent. Indeed, all FTP servers running on the site are actually just FileZilla Server, which is also superb and very easy to manage.

FireFTP is an add-on for Firefox. I've been using it for a year or so!
