Challenge - Surfliner

Postby SuperTux on Fri Nov 13, 2009 5:05 pm

Last minute addition, this route is going to be based on the Pacific Surfliner route http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer/AM_Route_C/1241245649505/1237405732511 but as I doubt I will have the time to firstly finish the route to San Louis Obispo and I doubt I will have many of the buildings that match I shall make it loosely based on this area. I'm aiming to at least go as far as Solana Beach.

Hi Matt

Welcome to the Challenge.

Another non-UK route is most welcome. You will have to use the default scenery as per the Challenge Rules but if you build with substitution of more appropriate scenery at a later date in mind, then the basic work will be sound.

Note that for non-UK Challengers, you can use local time for starting your Challenge. No need to work to UK time. (I am not sure where you are based).

GMT -8 Pacific Standard Time right now, sometimes it varies for a week or two between 7 and 9 hours when times change. So, that should be an 11am start I think, as a reference England kick off against Argentina tomorrow at 6:30am PST.

Yes I was thinking the rules would definitely give me a good start.

Ok this route will be mainly fictitious as I lack the time and skill to make an exact real life route as this is my first route. This will allow me to just lay track, yards etc and basically have at it :).

Matt

PS Trainguy I am in Southern CA (Temecula to be exact, but I am British though, born and somewhat raised in Leigh-on-Sea). Arizona is another state though, much like Essex not being part of Kent.

Unfortunately between unexpected extra work and this being my first attempt at building a route I was unable to get very far and so did not finish, however its not a bad thing as I have certainly progressed along the learning curve and have come to appreciate routes even more than before!
